No. 7 Texas visited No. 24 UConn on Sunday afternoon, marking the third game the Longhorns were without their starting guard, Isaiah Taylor.

Taylor has been out with a wrist injury after he was fouled driving to the basket in the final moments of Texas’ win against Iowa in the 2K Classic on Nov. 20.

During the ESPN2 broadcast on Sunday in Storrs, Connecticut, Andy Katz updated Taylor’s status, as the sophomore floor general was “adamant” he will be ready for the start of Big 12 Conference play on Jan.. 3 against Texas Tech.

As expected, Taylor will still miss non-conference games against No. 1 Kentucky, Stanford and Long Beach State.

With Taylor out, junior Javan Felix has been inserted into the starting lineup as the point guard. In three games, Taylor had been averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
