Syracuse, N.Y. » Syracuse basketball is back in familiar recruiting territory for a rising recruit in the Class of 2017.

Syracuse has offered a scholarship to Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward from Philadelphia. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim extended the offer after watching Cosby-Roundtree in a workout, according to Neumann-Goretti High School coach Carl Arrigale.

Neumann-Goretti's Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree goes up for a block against Archbishop Carroll High School in the PIAA Class AAA Boys championship basketball game last March.

Syracuse's offer was first reported on Twitter by @D1Circuit.

Neumann-Goretti is the alma mater of former Syracuse players Scoop Jardine and Rick Jackson. Syracuse has already offered a scholarship to Cosby-Roundtree's Neumann-Goretti teammate, Quade Green.

Cosby-Roundtree is an emerging talent. He is currently outside Scout.com's Top 100 for the Class of 2017; however, he has already received offers from Villanova, Temple, Providence and VCU, among others.

"He was a surprise for us last year and he's getting better,'' Arrigale said. "We didn't think he would be able to help us last year and he played on our varsity as a sophomore.''
