Chris Baldwin commits to UMass: Read the Springfield native's statement on joining the Minutemen

To formally announce his verbal commitment to the University of Massachusetts Tuesday morning, Chris Baldwin took to Twitter with an official statement offering thanks and explaining his decision.

Here's what the Springfield native had to say:

Baldwin reportedly made his final decision between UMass, Creighton, West Virginia, Temple and DePaul. Per Baldwin, it was assistant coach Adam Ginsburg – who's been on the UMass staff since the days of Travis Ford – who was the point man alongside Kellogg in recruiting the Notre Dame Prep and former Central High School standout.

With his statement, Baldwin also tweeted out a neat graphic showing himself off in a No. 3 UMass jersey:
