After allowing Lake Fenton to tie the game within the final minute on Wednesday, New Haven managed a steal and free throws to win 53-50, capturing the Class B regional title.

Trailing by 10 to start the fourth quarter, Lake Fenton built an 8-0 run, helped by a three-pointer from junior Jalen Miller, bringing the Blue Devils to trail by one with 44 seconds left.

Lake Fenton’s Isaac Golson tied the game with two freethrows in the final 22 seconds, but a foul and a steal by New Haven’s Romeo Weems forced a foul and helped them score the winning baskets.

Lake Fenton featured fourth quarter offense throughout its 21-4 season, winning seven games in which they were trailing late by five points or less, and going on to capture the school's first class B district title.

"We've been lucky enough to have some great kids that just every second, every possession, they feel like they're going to win, it doesn't matter if they're up ten or down ten," Lake Fenton coach Jake Erway said. "I'm proud of them and happy that they've been able to do that, and just have a never-die attitude, and that just propelled them through this year."

New Haven’s Eric Williams led with 25 points, helping New Haven advance to the state quarterfinals on Tuesday, where the Rockets will face Detroit Henry Ford.
