VIDEO: Top-3 2017 prospect Michael Porter Jr. flushed an unreal self-assisting slam

Michael Porter Jr. is widely considered a shoo-in as one of the top-5 overall prospects in the Class of 2017. A 6-foot-9 post presence with perimeter refinement, Porter can be an unstoppable force when he gets going.

So far this season, no moment has been more impressive than the one he authored during his Father Tolton Catholic squad’s late night 58-53 victory against Blue Valley Northwest at the Best of Midwest Showcase. In the process of scoring 34 points, Porter threw down a series of dunks, with one coming when Porter Jr. tossed an assist to himself off the backboard.

Father Tolton’s victory didn’t get started until 10 p.m., but that didn’t scare away big names who wanted to get a glance of the teen in action, Kansas coach Bill Self among them. Given that Porter Jr. had been in attendance at Phog Allen Fieldhouse hours earlier, Self’s appearance almost seemed fitting.

“It was a great experience. That venue is ridiculous,” Porter Jr. told the Kansas City Star about watching Kansas play. “Just the way Coach Self has them play really hard all the time and the way he runs that program is something that’s cool to me.”
