Report: Indiana decommit James Blackmon Jr., a 4-star SG, interested in Michigan basketball

Michigan coach John Beilein addresses the crowd at the team's annual season-ending banquet in April.

Tom Crean's loss could be someone else's very, very large gain.

And that someone could be Michigan.

UMHoops.com reported Saturday that four-star 2014 shooting guard James Blackmon Jr., who recently decommited from Crean and the Hoosiers, has expressed interest in John Beilein's Wolverines and could be making a visit to Ann Arbor.

“They said they were interested and they asked if I was interested and I said, ‘yeah,' " Blackmon told the site. "I like the way Michigan plays. I think I fit their style a lot because I fit their playing style. I can shoot the ball and I like the offense they run. It was just a good feel.”

Under Michigan's current recruiting policy, Blackmon won't get an offer from Beilein until he makes a visit to campus -- officially or unofficially.

The interesting part here, though, is that Blackmon was on campus last season for the season-finale at Crisler Center against Indiana. Blackmon is close friends with 2014 Michigan commit Austin Hatch, and he sat with Hatch during the game.

A 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Marion, Ind., Blackmon is Rivals.com's No. 33-ranked prospect in 2014.

He committed to Indiana all the way back in September of 2010, but recently opened up his recruitment some three months before the early signing period begins in November.

Michigan isn't the only suitor for Blackmon's services, though. A host of schools have contacted him, including Kentucky and Louisville -- a pair of powerhouses who both will receive visits from Blackmon before the early signing period.
