The Damon Harge Jr. Blog: Getting stitched up, recruitment, Paranormal Activity and more

Damon Harge Jr. is one of the most well-known high school basketball players on YouTube and it’s been that way since he was 11. Harge, one of the top point guards in the 2018 class, helped Orlando Christian Prep (Orlando, Fla.) win a state title as an eighth grader and holds offers from high major schools. Now he’s agreed to give USA TODAY HSS exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from his recruitment to his everyday life in a blog.

What’s up you guys, it’s Damon Harge coming back at you with my second blog!

We have officially started practice, we started last week and I’m definitely excited about that! The only bad part was that on the first day of practice I had to work through a little pain because I got a bad cut on my shooting hand while I was moving into my new house. I was picking up a box and put it down and it cut me really deep. I had to get 10 stitches!

It hurt pretty bad.

I should be back to normal in a day or two now though so I’m good!

Other than that practice has been great.

It’s been really intense and competitive, we’re all trying to get at each other in a good way. I think this competition is just making us a lot better.

We have our first preseason games on Nov. 9-10 and I can’t wait!

My mentality this year is like I told you guys in my last blog; I really want to show everyone that I’ve grown as a leader and as a player overall.

I think if I had to pick one thing that I really want to improve on it would be to talk a lot more. That’s something that I’ve been working on and I feel like it’s something that’s gonna take my team to the next level.

Our chemistry is pretty good so far and we’ve got talented players that play at a high level.

Last week Georgetown came in to see me practice and I talked to them afterward. That was cool to just start getting to know the coaches there. In the last few weeks Florida, Fairfield and a couple other schools have been in too.

That’s all been cool, but I have definitely been taking care of business in the classroom too; right now I’ve got a 3.7 GPA so I’m proud of that.

My favorite subject is definitely World History, but I’m starting to like English more, too.

Oh, I definitely have to say that I give Paranormal Activity two thumbs up!

I just recently saw it in 3-D so that was pretty crazy!

I’ve gotta keep it real I jumped a couple times during the movie; just like four or five times though, Haha!

OK, I’ve gotta get going, but thanks for reading my second blog and I’ll be back soon to give y’all another update in the next one.
