Michigan coach John Beilein spends Tuesday night checking in on top recruit Luke Kennard

Michigan coach John Beilein spent Tuesday night visiting Franklin (Ohio) High School junior guard Luke Kennard, one of the Wolverines' most sought after recruits in the 2015 class.

Michigan coach John Beilein spent his Tuesday night traveling south to drop in on one of the most highly sought after guards in the country.

According to Rivals.com, Beilein was on-hand Tuesday to see Franklin (Ohio) High School's Luke Kennard, who is averaging just over 40 points per game early in his junior year and is rated as the No. 15 recruit in the Class of 2015, according to the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs rankings from various recruiting services.

Kennard holds a scholarship offer from Michigan, along with most other top programs in the country, including Kentucky and Duke. Beilein made Kennard the first Michigan recruit in the 2015 recruiting class to receive scholarship offer back on June 16.

A gifted 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard, Kennard is a five-star prospect and ranked 16th overall in the calss of 2015 by Rivals. He's rated as the No. 24 recruit by ESPN.com with a grade of 91, and Scout.com ranks him at the No. 4 shooting guard in the country.

A scouting report in late October by Rivals.com's Eric Bossi described Kennard as, "A solidly built two guard with a fundamentally sound game, crisp jump shot and plenty of toughness. People notice his shooting first but he is very sneaky off the dribble and has an outstanding two dribble pull-up game. His strength allows him to bully defenders and earn trips to the free throw line."

Last week, Kennard set a school record with 51 points on 22-of-36 shooting after scoring 34 in his team's opener. He's scored 45 and 33 points in the two games since his record-breaking performance.

Kennard has already unofficially visited Michigan's campus and Tuesday is far from being the first time Beilein has seen him in person. Kennard attended the past two Michigan team camps.

Kentucky, which Kennard has visited four times, is reportedly the leader for his services, while Thad Matta and Jeff Boals from Ohio State visited him on Dec. 10, the same day as his 51-point outing.
