Syracuse, NY -- ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported this morning that Chris McCullough, an acclaimed Syracuse recruit, was dismissed from Brewster Academy.

Brewster coach Jason Smith confirmed the report via email:

"I have received word from the Dean of Students that Chris has been dismissed for violation of school rules," he said.

McCullough's AAU coach, Terrence "Munch" Williams, declined to comment. McCullough could not be reached by phone, but he did send out this tweet:

McCullough, ranked the 16th best high school prospect nationally by ESPN, committed to SU last November and was expected to sign his letter of intent this week during the early signing period.

He is a native of the Bronx. He and his mother decided that he would attend prep school in rural New Hampshire to help him academically, McCullough said last month in an email interview.

No word yet on where he will land.
