One of the top transfer options on the college basketball market will soon make an official visit to Alabama.

Nick King, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward from Memphis, is visiting with his family from Thursday through Saturday. The visit is sandwiched in between trips to Ole Miss last weekend and Arkansas next weekend.

King, who could play either forward position, scored 7.2 points per game with 4.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Memphis. The former top 50 national recruit from Memphis will have to sit out the 2015-16 season as a transfer. Alabama has three open scholarships for next season.

"Nick had called me one day and he said Alabama called him," his father Greg King said. "They've been calling ever since."

"I've been talking with assistant coach (Antoine) Pettway, I talked to (head coach) Avery (Johnson) a couple of times. I'm excited about what they're trying to do and what they have going on and what they plan on doing."

The King family took an unofficial visit to Ole Miss last Saturday.

"It was impressive," Greg King said. "They had more to offer than I thought. The campus was nice. It was beautiful down there."

The family will visit Arkansas next weekend. Right now, these three schools are the top three in the mix for King, who hopes to make a decision by the first summer session.

"These three right here are the ones that call him the most," Greg King said.
