LINCROFT, N.J. — Scottie Lewis plans to cut his list to about half a dozen schools from his current list of 12 sometime later this spring.

Ranked No. 8 in the 2019 ESPN 60, the 6-foot-5 Lewis currently lists St. John’s, Duke, Seton Hall, Maryland, Villanova, Stanford, Kentucky, Kansas, Florida, Harvard, North Carolina and Colgate.

“I’m probably going to cut my list down to at least six,” Lewis said after going for 21 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds as Ranney (N.J.) beat defending New Jersey Tournament of Champions winner The Patrick School, 59-43, in the Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase at Brookdale Community College. “I’m at 12 right now, just cut it by twos, you know.”

He added: “I’m not really sure [when I’m going to cut it]. I’m just kind of waiting it out to see what Bryan [Antoine] is going to do and what direction he’s going to go in. I’m going to make my second [list], he’s going to make his first around the same time. We’re not really sure when that’s going to be though.”

For what it’s worth, Lewis wore a Harvard baseball cap before the game. He recently visited the Ivy League school and said head coach Tommy Amaker wants a package deal involving Lewis, Antoine and teammate Alex Klatsky.

“No, they’re definitely one of the teams that are going to come down to the stretch as I cut my list down,” Lewis said. ”

Villanova has been heavily recruiting Lewis and Antoine as of late.

“Yeah, coach George [Halcovage] and coach Jay [Wright] are always in constant contact,” he said. “They were at the game against Immaculate Conception. They gave me some feedback from that game, just to be more poised and trying to change speeds and just teaching me for a minute.”

Lewis also hears consistently from Kentucky, Duke and Florida.

“On the New Year’s every coach texted and they showed all the love,” he said. “Coach Cal actually texted me on New Year’s and coach [Tony] Barbee texts me every other day just to check in with my family and things like that.”

As for the game, Lewis had only 8 points at the half when Ranney led 26-25. But he and Antoine took over in the second half, as did former St. Anthony’s big man Savior Akuwovo (10 points, 8 rebounds).

“I think we’re going to go really far in states and definitely beating that team, that’s a big sign as well,” he said.

Ranney remains in the Non-Public South B bracket, while teams like the Patrick School, Hudson Catholic, Roselle Catholic, Immaculate Conception and Gill St. Bernard’s will battle it out in a bloodbath in the North.

This latest win came before a packed crowd in what will be a huge week for Ranney, which plays rival Mater Dei on Thursday and then heads to the Hoophall Classic to face Mount Saint Joseph (MD) on Sunday.

“We head to Massachusetts to play one of the best teams in Maryland Sunday,” Lewis said, ” so we can’t wait for that.”
