THE WINNER: Jaylen Brown

THE BASICS

School: Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Guard/forward
Height: 6-foot-7
Weight: 220 pounds

Athletic achievement: He led the Wildcats to a 30-2 record and the Class AAAAAA state championship this past season. Brown averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds while shooting about 64 percent from inside the arc. He is rated the nation’s No. 2 recruit in the Class of 2015 by ESPN and is a 2015 McDonald’s All-American Game selection as well as a 2015 Jordan Brand Classic game invitee. Brown also captured MVP honors at the City of Palms Classic in December when he scored 25 points to go with 12 rebounds, shooting a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line in a 72-65 win over Montverde Academy.

Academic excellence: Brown has maintained a B average.

Exemplary character: A devoted parishioner in his church community, he is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as Men and Women of Distinction humanitarian service organization.

THE PRAISE

“Jaylen Brown is an outstanding player,” said Hollis Bethea, head coach at Douglas County High. “He has a really good perimeter game and can attack the rim off the dribble. He reminds me of LeBron James when he gets the rebound and goes coast-to-coast and finish on the other end of the floor”

THE FUTURE: Brown remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
