Dominicans give another European a scare, Greece hold on for win

HERAKLION (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Hosts Greece survived a seesaw affair against upstart Dominican Republic to pick up their second straight victory 70-65 in Group D of the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.

Turning Point: The game featured 11 lead changes and eight ties and in the end it was decided by Konstantinos Mitoglou, who split two free throws with 27 seconds left and made two of two with 12 seconds for a 69-65 lead.

Stats Don't Lie: Greece held the Dominicans to 36 percent shooting and made 16-of-25 free throws (64 percent) compared to 7-of-12 (58 percent) for Dominican Republic.

Game Hero: Dimitrios Stamatis was Greece’s motor with 17 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals.

The Bottom Line: The Dominicans gave a legitimate scare into their second straight European opponent - a day after nearly beating Serbia - but have only an 0-2 record to show for it. They go for their first victory on Day 3 against Korea. A day after rolling through Korea, Greece got a real test which will help them later on in the tournament.
