It’s been a while since we got to do a “vs” battle… The Final Four is set and we are just about done with the NCAA season. I’m hoping we can get some traction with these, as I’d love to see some more users on this site chime in… Haven’t see OH Canada in a while who started these, maybe we’ll get to see him on here – and possibly armchairgm, sweaterflex even or JAZZ P or Zola or Choppy or BK Gingersnap or Canadabasketballrising, Cynthia, DMO, Zouldiers, Basketballbloopers… or even MikeyV – who knows… Sorry if you weren’t mentioned, but you get the point… I love reading everyone’s takes on here, including us usual suspects that respond – but the more the better… (Guess that’s my shout out and call out both)

Anyways, this exercise we’ve been doing for a few years now, and the question here is how you got???
Kevin McCullar or Baylor Scheierman? and even better if you can explain why you would pick one over the other if you were the person picking for your franchise…

For me this one’s more about fit… this is a tough one imo. Scheierman is a far better offensive player and McCullar is the better defensive player… In a vacuum I think I go Scheierman, despite him being 21 spots lower on the consensus big board… Seems like long range shooting is the trait of the decade. I think Scheierman would fit on more teams slightly, although they are a virtual tie in who’s better… anyways, who you got?

Pretty much the same size and both 5th year seniors who transferred to bigger teams for their last two years. I don’t get the draft disparity between the two. But is McCullar just seen as a better prospect. I think Bayloe being drafted well below McCullar would be better value pick but teams are likely to take McCullar sooner as his defensive game has the edge. I’d have McCullar as mid to late first round and Baylor as an early 2nd rounder.

Scheierman makes more sense for what his defined role will be in the NBA. I would honestly have Knecht closer to these two than his current slot, all of these 5th year seniors were men amongst boys. McCullar can defend well enough and will move the ball but is inconsistent shooting, Scheierman could be Sam Hauser-ish eventually, Knecht will be like Max Strus.

The funny thing is that when I made this post, I was thinking of 2 debates separately going around Youtube and it was who’s better Scheierman or Knecht… and McCullar or Knecht. Knecht is the best pure scorer of them, but they all have their cases for who’s better.
