These two players actually have very different games although I want to highlight them both because they both were standouts at the combine and had very similar measurements. Both players seem like they may sneak into that late lottery area, especially with Orlando at 11, OKC at 12 and Toronto at 13. Those three teams are comically obsessed with measurements and athleticism and have had great success drafting these kinds of players.Prosper measured 6’6.75 wo shoes, 212 with a 7’1 wingspan and also was top 5 in all athletic testing highlighted by a 40 inch vert. He is a versatile defender who could guard 1 through 5 effectively at the college level while showing some potential shooting the ball. The knock on him this year was his guard skills as he played more of a forward for Marquette but O’Max put some of those concerns to rest scoring 21 points getting to the line 12 times and still showing he can be that 3 and D prospect. He is also Canadian, from Montreal which makes him a fairly attractive option for Toronto at 13 from a marketing standpoint.
Max Lewis measured 6’6.25 wo shoes, 207 with a 7’0 wingspan. His athletic testing was a bit underwhelming but still good although this maybe due to the fact that since the college season ended he’s gained about 10 pounds and is likely still working into his new body. Theres a great interview on him on the Locked On NBABigBoard’ Youtube channel which goes into detail his story, struggles this season being the first option for a losing team, playing for coach Romar of Pepperdine (formely Washington) , and playing with Josh Primo and Jabari Walker and being teammates with Jalen Williams last year. Max is a very unique player. He has the length and size of a forward but plays like a combo guard, teams question his competitiveness and defense. He has tons of potential and has only been playing organized basketball for 6 years. This site compares him to Devin Vassell which makes sense from a measurement and role standpoint but Vassell is such a fundamentally sound player coming from Florida St. whereas Lewis is just pure talent at this point.
I think they will both be very good players in the NBA if they find the right situation to develop. They are just both so raw. Overall I think Max Lewis has the higher upside despite the fact that he is not Canadian. As a Raptors fan I would be happy with either at 13 if Toronto keeps that pick.

HitsterParticipantOMP is certainly an interesting guy to compare to Max Lewis who projects to be a mid first rounder. OMP isn’t on this site’s mock and is only 56th on Givony’s mock so to say he could be a first rounder would seem a huge stretch to be. But he looks as if he has had a positive combine so he’d be a guy I’d be happy to put into my 2nd round thoughts. Although Max is clearly the better prospect IMO.

OhCanada-ParticipantOh wow I didn’t realized he was ranked so low. I haven’t really been looking at mock drafts or big boards this year, I’d say he’s a top 20 prospect though.

NorrinRaddParticipantOMP should be drafted this year, he tore it up in the combine and had a good but not great year at Marquette. Maxwell Lewis has been hyped up all year. Maxwell Lewis should get picked first of the 2, however OMP could be just as successful. Imo a lot of this one goes by situation. OMP has that burst athleticism. Who’s the actual better prospect? Not sure, this is tougher than one would think. On say a big board where I’m guessing drafting ranges, I’d go Maxwell Lewis. If I’m building one as if I were a GM to a team, there in the same tier. (Emoni would be much higher) OMP I’d bet on having more dawg in him. It’s going to come down to who has the better team situation though. Vaccuum guess though I’ll take Lewis and defer to scouts in a tie breaker.

sweaterflexParticipantDefinitely different types of dudes, the idea of Lewis seems to be a lot better than the actual results. There are all kinds of things he ‘could’ do, but we haven’t seem him play defense, make his teammates better, and he pretty openly quit on his team last year. Not a bad flyer late in round 1, I see something like a Cam Reddish-style trajectory. OMP is a reasonable 2nd round pick as an athletc 6’8 guy who can defend multiple positions but I’m much higher on Oso in that Marquette frontcourt, he should go back to school.

OhCanada-ParticipantWhat factors make you such an impactful defender?
Olivier-Maxence Prosper: Utilizing my length and my 7-foot-1 wingspan and bother guards and their shot. When I get there, when they’re right-handed shooters, I contest with my left hand and when they’re left-handed shooters, I contest with my right hand. What that does is that the hand you contest with blocks their line of vision and you’re likely to contest it better. It’s called the dot hand. That helps me contest shots better. A lot of people don’t even shoot 3-pointers when I’m guarding them because they know that I will contest it really well. I take a lot of pride in that. I can bring that defensive identity to a team that maybe hasn’t had a good defense.
