Trayce Jackson-Davis vs Tristan Vukcevic https://www.nbadraft.net/forums/topic/trayce-jackson-davis-vs-tristan-vukcevic/Ok… You are the GM of a team and you are in the war room… who do you pitch your support for Dariq Whitehead or Sidy Cissoko?
These 2 prospects I have ranked in the same rough range as each other… Dariq Whitehead like AJ Griffin the year before took a minute to get going in the season due to a foot injury. After warming up to the college atmosphere from that rough start, we got to see he has some nice shooting range. Then as the season went on he got better and better. He responded to his injury slow and steady and got results as a guy who got his burst back. He showed flashes of some great explosive athleticism. Overall his trajectory was in the right direction. His stock went up as a result of all of this. Now, however it looks like his stock took another slight hit due to his foot needing some minor work. It’s probably nothing serious, but nonetheless, still a red flag, as it’s a lingering injury.
Sidy Cissoko on the other hand came into the season ranked the 2nd best French prospect in the draft behind Wemby. He decided to join the Ignite for this season. With the rise of Bilal Coulibaly by second half of Metropolis 92′ season gave Coulibaly rise playing off of Wemby in a high profile team. Coulibaly got love. Rayan Rupert was ranked high the entire draft process. Sidy on the other hand just didn’t get much air time with the Ignite. He was very raw coming in, but arguably the most athletic French guy in this draft. Sidy improved his game immensely for the Ignite as the season went on. While the shot is a bit of a concern, if you take in context of how he shot the second half of the season only, well lets just say Cissoko’s shooting range was respectable by years end. He also became a better ball handler and passer. Sidy Cissoko I think is a bit hosed in the consensus rankings atm due to simply playing for the Ignite. (Not much media attention comparatively). In theory I believe Cissoko will be able to guard 1-4 at the next level and be a secondary ball handling super athletic connective tissue for a team. Very versatile.I’ll take Cissoko as I think there’s less risk of injury and more defensive versatility there. I believe in his shot at least somewhat. I do like Whitehead, think he can succeed but the second look at his foot is a little concern imo.
Anyways, who you got?

sweaterflexParticipantWhitehead was a good enough prospect pre-injury I’d have him in a higher tier, I’d rather take a gamble on him than some folks mocked higher like Hawkins. Sissoko is a fine wing gamble and I’m not sure why people are higher on Rupert. I’d have Dariq in the 15-25 range and Sissoko 25-40.

OhCanada-ParticipantI watched a good share of G League Ignite games this year. Sidy Cissoko stood out. He seemed like he was holding back to prove he could play his role and he played his role well. Sidy is very versatile. He has a good handle for his size, can shoot a bit, is an underrated passer, good decision maker and has good athleticism. He can really defend and is a guy you can play in multiple positions. I just don’t understand how a team can scout this guy and not see him being able to contribute to multiple roles at that next level.
I think todays game is about how many roles you can provide and how many positions or prototypical player types you can guard. If developed properly I see Sidy being a guy that provides alot for a team.
Whitehead was cold in highschool it sucks to see him dealing with injuries but he just had another serious surgery and wont be healthy until maybe training camp/preseason if everything goes well. Thats a very important summer he’s losing. Being the face of Montverde Academy means youve got as much talent as anyone in the world so I won’t count him out but I also wouldn’t take the risk if I knew I could pickup Sidy.

HitsterParticipantI’d say Whitehead has more upside but I agree that his injuries are a worry. Also Cissoko could be more a glue/complimentary player who may have a better NBA career due to his versatility.
