Ok, which prospect you got and why?
Here’s what I can say about either prospect without dropping their names yet:
One of if not the best off ball prospect in the draft with a knack for getting open.
Might have the best pure shot out of any other prospect and shooting is that important.
Naturally fits at the next level in almost any team can just plug him in.
Not an elite athlete, but gets the job done.
Needs to improve on defense.
Has a chance to crack the lottery. On one hand Jordan Hawkins is the hot topic atm being the NCAA champion of the 2. He is a little more skilled and has a little more speed to his game.
On the other hand, Gradey Dick is 2″ taller and the younger prospect. Kansas was eliminated quick in the tournament, but they weren’t exactly slouches being a #1 seed.
For me I’d take Jordan Hawkins out of preference. I think Gradey Dick has a chance to go ahead of Hawkins, but Hawkins brings more to the table than Gradey Dick. Both on defense leave more to be desired. Hawkins ability to get open is slightly better. He’s also the more assertive player and has a better handle on the ball.

HitsterParticipantHawkins has moved up the draft after a great title run with UConn and I would argue is more NBA ready than Dick but that Dick has more upside going forward. Gradey has long been a top 10 in a lot of mocks and Hawkins has only moved up into the first round recently.
Gradey has this shooting potential with BIll Self saying he might be the best shooter he has seen in all his time with the Jayhawks but Jordan is probably more skillful and quicker and could bring more drive to a team. On draft night I’d expect to still see Gradey’s name called first but to a team looking to round off a rebuilding roster I could see Hawjins being more attractive.
Hawkins I would say will have the better earlier NBA career and be a starter first but Gradey might project better long term and could bloom as a 6th man before transitioning into a starter.
As I said I expect Gradey’s name to be called first but if he begins to fall I don’t see teams just outside the lottery if they have Hawkins as their number 1 choice flipping him over for Gradey as they would love Hawkins’ winning resume and drive.

sweaterflexParticipantHawkins had a nice title run but I’m not really sure what he does outside of being a shooting specialist with acceptable size for an NBA, he doesn’t really make plays on defense or create for others, and I don’t know that he has the juice to create his own 3s off the bounce. Gradey is a comparable shooter, three inches taller, and 18 months younger and played reasonable enough defense on a Kansas team that should’ve gone further. I’d take Gradey late lotto and Hawkins in the 22-30 range.
