OhCanada-ParticipantWho’s the better prospect?
This ones tough for me. I’m a big fan of both players AJ Griffin being the son of Toronto Raptors Championship assistant coach Adrian Griffin and Shaedon Sharpe being this years Canadian high usage wing prospect. I also see both as high risk players.
Alot of where Griffin goes will depend on his medical reports. If healthy I see him as a top 10 pick although that could plummet if injury concerns surface. As we can see with Micheal Porter Jr. serious injury concerns just are not worth the investment. As for Sharpe its hard to tell how he will adapt playing to elite athleticism and length. Jumping past college and going straight to the pro’s is a difficult task so if he does enter the team picking him will need to be patient. His athleticism and scoring is intriguing but he seems kind of stiff with his playmaking and ballhandling ability and also seems to have operated mostly out of iso’s to dominate at the HS level. Not sure how he would fit into more of an off the ball role.
For the time being I have Sharpe due to Griffin’s injury concerns. I would prefer Sharpe plays a year at Kentucky though.

NorrinRaddParticipantI love both these prospects, but the edge here goes to Shaedon Sharpe. AJ Griffin has great upside, but Sharpe’s is elite. Imo Sharpe will be the 5th pick regardless of team.

HitsterParticipantWhat has been the update on Griffin’s injury since the NCAA game?
He played a solid season with Duke but if there are injury issues then he might slip a bit but he has high upside not turning 19 until August and having played a year under Mike K.
Sharpe is harder to judge he is actually slightly older than AJ but unlike him won’t have played any college ball. Is making the jump to the top table too big a leap or are team’s getting a potential top 3 pick from the 2023 draft a year early?
Sharpe I see as being the one who could really go up the boards out of the two of them if he has a good workout and comes across well in his interviews as teams will have to judge him on that more than they would AJ who they have a measure on against other college ballers.
I think AJ’s draft status is about right on the site’s last mock. So I’ll buy into the Sharpe hype and say he’ll go before AJ in the top 7.
