NBA Comparison:

Strengths:  Sweet shooting finesse bigman with excellent length and skill level … Has a sturdy frame and should be able to get much stronger physically … Shows a natural feel for the game and still has a lot of room for improvement … Excellent shooting form with the ability to face the basket and knock down intermediate, as well as shots out to 3 point range (21-86 3p, 36% as a freshman)… Big, soft hands make him a steady presence on the offensive block … Has a bag of tricks offensively, using pump fakes and footwork well … Likes to take bigmen out on the perimeter and use his ball skills to get by them or pull up for mid range shots … Great touch around the basket … Shows solid agility for a player his size … Comfortable putting the ball on the floor … Huge wingspan helps counter average athleticism … Solid shot blocker at 2.3 per game …

Weaknesses:  While a solid athlete, Murray is not a standout in any sense. He lacks great explosiveness … Needs to work hard on conditioning and strength … Work ethic has been questioned by some. Will need to show a dedication to improving, toning his body and not relying on his natural talent … Considering his size and length, should be a more dominant rebounder … Gets dunks based on his length but is a little slow off his feet and more of a finesse guy than an overpowering post player … His perimeter skills are extremely impressive, but should focus on being a more dominant interior force (6.6 rebounds as a freshman) … With his size and length he should be able to overpower opponents around the basket but his lack of aggressiveness and strength limits him … A much better half court player than in the open floor … Should shoot a higher clip from the line (65%) for such a quality shooter … Playing in a smaller (A12) conference, it’s tougher for someone like Murray to get the same exposure and prove his talents … He’s a year old for his grade …

Notes: Measured 6’10.75 (in shoes) 249 lbs, with a 7’3 wingspan at the 2011 Amare Skills Academy … One of the top returning bigmen on the college level … Averaged 12.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.3 bpg, and 36% 3p in 27.5 mpg as a freshman …
