So Trayce Jackson-Davis is a lock to be drafted. He may have even played himself into the 1st round and I’m gonna predict he gets a green room invite as well. 25 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks in Big Ten tournament play near 70% FG’s and he has 14 points in the first half vs. Wyoming. I have them beating Wyoming and Saint Mary’s and playing a tight game against UCLA, in order for that to happen he will have to play well and that will help his draft stock.

He’s kinda like John Collins out of college. Better defender though.

TJD makes a great case based on intel, athletic metrics, and defense. I snubbed him because I want to see him develop a 3 ball and a mid range game. Then he would be a lock. If Liddell and TJD could form into one prospect, I’d be more inclined to go all in on a first round pick and probably lottery talk. TJD probably could be switched out for maybe Vukcevic??? Idk… or Edey or maybe even Badji if a team wanted a different specialty player. Jabari Walker is close and younger, I went with Jabari there. The thing is maybe to a fault is that I’m favoring guards and wings after a certain point. Teams are using them more than bigs and small ball bigs for the most part. Teams might not do that though and I’m probably over thinking it. I don’t have him high enough to be in my Kamagate group…

Two names I keep hearing about as late 1st early 2nd prospects are Ryan Rollins and Yoan Makoundou. Rollins is a sophomore guard out of Toldeo and Yoan is a freak athlete playing in the French 1st league. Makoundou is 21 and has become a reliable starter in the French League. I downloaded a bunch of draft podcasts to listen to at work and all of them mentioned Rollins. I had a new mock draft ready but I didn’t post it because I’m not sure where to fit these guys in.

Hugo Besson had a very big game I think about a week ago now. I have him going 17th in my most recent mock.

That Toronto trade down move to acquire that Detroit Pistons 2nd round pick leads me to believe Ujiri has something up his sleeve. I was thinking maybe a big like Badji or Nsoza, maybe that mystery prospect Leonard Okeke the “Italian Giannis”. Then I thought it might just be Nembhard… and now I have Harrison Ingram there.

Makoundo is a guy I mentioned last summer, and he has improved in his second season in the French top division. He is really long and athletic. Like a lot of international guys, the pandemic and limits on travel probably hurt him. It is hard for them to get out and seen by NBA people. He is all arms and legs and very dunk heavy, but is starting to shoot it more. He has taken 37 threes and made 40% while getting his FT% up to 75%. Since being moved back into the Cholet starting lineup five games ago, he has been averaging 14 PPG and is coming off his best game. https://youtu.be/_vPXJFheq8w He probably would benefit by staying overseas another year or two. He just reached 1,000 pro minutes. Still, he has the physical makeup to get taken and maybe get a look in the Summer League.

Kenneth Lofton declared for the draft, though no agent. With his coach leaving, he could be a candidate to transfer. With his body, I can’t imagine the NBA gives him the green light. Wyoming’s Hunter Maldonado is declaring but keeping open the possibility of using his 6-year of eligibility. He also has definite up-transfer possibilities. Nebraska’s Bryce McGowens has declared and signed with an agent. He is very smooth offensively, but also very slim with an iffy shot. Saint Joseph’s do-it-all sophomore Jordan Hall is hiring and agent and entering. He was a bit of an A10 version of Dalano Banton as a big point. He is not quite as big, but a more developed shot. He wanted to enter last year, but pulled out. He will need a big showing during the predraft process as it is tough to get drafted coming off a 11-19 season on an A10 team. Still, a name to remember.

Yeah Hall is a guy I thought would for sure be a 1st round pick, but then I actually checked out his game and theres alot of bad tendencies. He’s just so soft. I think there was one stat I heard where he only had 3 and ones this year, I don’t know if thats true or not but its pretty alarming. Took 57 free throws in 30 games. The guy is a legit 6’8 230 and only had three and ones. He only takes tough shots. He will pass up a layup to take a 4 foot fadeaway and I’m not exaggerating. In 50 games only 6 blocks playing point guard. Maybe you draft him because he is 6’8 and can shoot the ball well and create a bit but he lacks any kind of explosiveness and played on a losing team against bad competition.

Yeah I wonder where some of these guys go. Like Makoundo. They said he has a 7’4 wingspan. 6’9 7’4 with a developing jumpshot and insane athleticism. If he enters the draft theres gotta be some interest there.

I think Makoundo is still raw. He could benefit from another year for sure.
I noticed McGowens is entering too… He’s a unique prospect. He is thin, but his shot start dropping later in the season. I had him higher than Branham pre tournament because he destroyed Ohio State one game sometime later in the season. (Probably got Branham up there with McGowens after the tournament)
Oh yeah and Maldonado would be out for someone for sure.

The games I watched Dearon Seabron play left me with very good impressions. He has an absolutely elite first step and he can get off the floor very easily/doesn’t need to gather. Its just very hard to find that in a 6’7 player with close to 7 foot wingspan. I’ve also seen him have games where his jumpshot was fine and made me think it could be developed. I know his team was dead last in the ACC and he takes alot of criticism for that but I feel like if he goes to the right team he could be a steal.

Seabron is a slam dunk pick if he had a consistent jumper. I don’t know where to put Iverson Molinar, but after looking at more videos of him, I might have to put him somewhere…

I never heard of him tbh, then I saw him #76 on Aran’s big board for 2022. Then I watched a bunch of youtube videos… Can’t remember off the top of my head which one, but there was a video I believe in a Wes Brown video??? Anyways, the video was blabbing about how how Shaedon Sharpe might stay another year, and Leonard Miller could be eligible or choose to go to school or the G League Ignite depending on interest… It was definitely a youtube video I found on Leonard Miller. I think he’s eligible. If he is he’s got to be put somewhere. Mid to late 1st??? Aran’s list triggered me take a deep look at him…

He could possibly be a lottery pick imo. The more I watch his tape, the more I like his skill set. He has holes – sure, he’s very young. Could be a big problem in a few years.

Another guy to watch out for is a guy you mentioned last year OhCanada- that’s Kai Sotto. I think he’s eligible this year. He is 7’3″ and handles the ball fairly well, has a nice touch.

Just the fact that he’s 7’3 and he doesn’t look out of place athletically in the NBL should justify a 1st round pick. He also has good hands, footwork, can shoot, has touch, can get up a bit which is crazy at 7’3. No clue why he isn’t on any draft boards but also since he’s a big I have no clue where to mock him because I always seem to rank bigs higher than the consensus. I’d probably have him in my top 20 as a project pick, where would you rank him?

idk, but I think I’d put him somewhere – where Walker Kessler’s ranked for different reasons I guess. This is a mystery draft right now to me… I thought it was a little bit on the weaker side, but it might be alright… If this draft makes a mark for anything, it might be the comeback and reshaping of the paint players in the league.

Speaking of Kessler…if Charlotte picks a big again and lets say its between Walker Kessler and Mark Williams does Jordan go with Kessler who left UNC to play at Auburn or Williams who is playing UNC in the final four? Last Duke player Jordan picked I’m pretty sure was Gerald Henderson.

Tough question… I think he would go with UNC current. Both prospects I’d put in the same tier right now. Mark Williams made the Final Four and Kessler didn’t which would also give Williams the heat of the moment factor.
