With so many bigs in this draft I favored guards and wings slightly more, as there seems to be more demand for wings and guards these days. Oh my what a difference a month makes!0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/17/2022 - 6:30am #1254217

NorrinRaddParticipantOk… I have to ask… Who’s this John Butler guy? I have been watching either main event games or power house mid majors play for the most part along with lots of highlights. Haven’t seen John Butler on big boards and haven’t seen him play. I’m intrigued, is he a secretly legit prospect? I see he’s a possible lottery pick on your board.

armchairgmParticipantHe is a freshman big at Florida State. 7’1 super skinny lights out shooter in Channing Frye type mold.
1+- Posted on: Thu, 02/17/2022 - 10:12pm #1254230
NorrinRaddParticipantHe looks the part for sure… He needs more opportunity.

OhCanada-ParticipantLeonard Hamilton’s tried to give him more opportunity. I’ve seen him play a few times and theres alot of positive and alot of negative too his game. Its a tough role. He basically has to make his shots, on nights where he is missing they can’t get into their halfcourt defense and he gets a quick yank. Defensively he does alot of things for them. Doesn’t really play like a big all the time, he guards smaller quicker players and uses his length to bother them. Most of his intrigue comes from the defensive end.

NorrinRaddParticipantYeah, he’s and he’s not quite fluent when he moves on the offensive end, hopefully he can improve that area. At least from highlights I’ve been watching the last few minutes. He does have potential as a good defender like you said. Does anyone know Branham’s birthday???

OhCanada-ParticipantYeah he’s gonna be good. He’s not quite there yet. Inconsistent player and a poor rebounder.
I think he needs another year, bulk up and be more comfortable with his role and he could be a lottery pick next year.
To me he’s like a bigger Chris Boucher.

NorrinRaddParticipantProps on the John Butler, he did pretty well the other night getting minutes. He is a legit defender and prospect as well.

OhCanada-ParticipantNot much I disagree with here. I would probably have Kessler and Duren a bit higher but thats just my own preference. Branham, Mcgowens and Davison go a bit higher. Edey may not have an NBA role. Hunter Dickerson really exposed him.
Great Board as always though, Now that you updated your board I may have to update my mock draft.

stepback3ParticipantNo Ousmane Dieng on your boards? He was a projected lotto pick last June.
0- Posted on: Sun, 02/20/2022 - 9:51am #1254256
NorrinRaddParticipantHe’s RAW and hasn’t been getting minutes. I’m guessing he stays a year.
1+ - Posted on: Sat, 02/26/2022 - 11:59pm #1254304
armchairgmParticipantYep I think Dieng doesn’t enter this year. Supposively scouts view his as a Paul George type player in the future though so that is some tremendous upside.

OhCanada-ParticipantKeep an eye on Justin Lewis. I’m gonna be watching him play here soon against Butler. I’ve seen him play before but he wasn’t even on my radar. He might be the fastest rising prospect right now.
1+- Posted on: Sun, 02/27/2022 - 12:02am #1254305
armchairgmParticipantI think Lewis is a 3 or 4 year college guy so I don’t see him coming out until next year at the earliest. His shooting is improving, which is going to be the biggest thing he needs to work on as he is a 3/4.
1+- Posted on: Sun, 02/27/2022 - 1:10am #1254306
OhCanada-ParticipantYeah its hard to judge from that one game but he didn’t seem like an NBA ready guy. He has skill, length and decent athleticism but it seems he is missing certain qualities. LIke knowing his spots and the floor, getting to his spots, counter moves and also it did not seem like his team was really looking to feature him. Needs a bit more polish and experience I would stay if I were him.
0- Posted on: Sun, 02/27/2022 - 2:07am #1254307
NorrinRaddParticipantHe definitely has holes in his game, but he’s got quick feet and he’s shifty on defense.

NorrinRaddParticipantI’ll have to get highlights right now… watching Purdue/Michigan State. Then…. Kentucky/Arkansas, then Tennessee/Auburn, then take a break til’ Kansas/Baylor… damn, lots of great games on today. Lewis is legit.
0- Posted on: Sat, 02/26/2022 - 12:25am #1254289
OhCanada-ParticipantThis Butler/Marquette game is very competitive. Lewis has started slow but its still early and his teammates have struggled to get him into his spots on the floor.

NorrinRaddParticipantPurdue/Michigan State’s a war so far.

NorrinRaddParticipantI love this time of year! Conference tournaments, selection Sunday next week! Can’t wait til bracket time. That Murray State game last night was good…

OhCanada-ParticipantI think its at the point where Holmgren is the clearcut #1 pick. If he does what he’s doing in the WCC to the national tournament teams hes pretty much a lock for #1.
