This actually turned out to be quite the offseason. Tons of storylines not just KD and Kyrie trade possibilities. Theres Ayton, Bridges, Gobert and Mitchell in Utah, John Wall finally got bought out, Orlando gave Paulo Banchero Mo Bamba’s #5 jersey number without asking him so they probably let him go. Hopefully we don’t have a Kawhi like situation where he holds up the market for a week. Either way it should be exciting.

Lakers are going to suck again unless they pull off a good trade. They totally whiffed on free agency and the draft this year.

And I agree with Oh Canada I never look at any of the other places on this forum except the top NBA Draft one.

As a Phoenix fan I hope we don’t do a rash deal and move 25 year old Booker for 33 year old KD.

Brad Beal has taken one of the biggest NBA contracts ever $251 million over 5 years and will become one of the top 5 highest paid players in the NBA so drinks are on him.

PJ Tucker taking his veteran skillset to Philly for another 3 years so well done on him getting another nice payday and showing that you can return to the NBA are not making it first time. Plus he has already got a title and almosr seems the go to role player for contending teams.

Looks like Malcolm Brogdon just got traded to the Celtics for Nesmith, Theis and a 2023 1st…
    Boston should contend again.

Brogdon if he stays sound is a good pick up for Boston gives them a proven third scorer. The Pacers are looking at some good cap space in next year or so.

Papagiannis would be an interesting pick up for GSW and give them a defensive anchor. Is he a cheaper than Looney I wonder?

T-Wolves getting Gobert pushes them up standings in West. Is Donovan Mitchell now on the block or will Ainge look to rebuild around him?

Could Utah even be considering entering the KD stakes pairing him Mitchell would be interesting and it gives KD a younger proven running mate. Utah have the picks to send to the Nets now?

Yes. Ultimately yes it does. I mean the way the league has been trending theres plenty of parity its anyones year each campaign whoever gets hot and healthy in the postseason has a chance. With the development of Anthony Edwards it surely is possible. You have multiple players and NBA guys saying he is a generational talent and thats just not something you hear often. Chris Finch is also a hell of a coach. Timberwolves defenitely on that shortlist for contentions but its really like 10 teams that are around there with them so we’ll see.

Everyone thought Brooklyn was the team to beat last year which I strongly laughed at.

They said they want to rebuild around Mitchell have already turned down offers like Herro and multiple 1st for him.

Sounds like this deal could end up being a 4 teamer with a lot of those 1sts getting rerouted to Brooklyn with Bridges, Cam, Shamet, maybe some of the Minnesota guys, Suns getting KD, and Utah ultimately ending up with Ayton.

Yeah its an excellent signing. I was surprised he took a paycut to play in Toronto. That rarely ever happens. Turns out his wife is from Toronto. So I guess after getting a payday in Washington/Chicago, winning a championship with GSW only thing left is to make the wife happy. Happy wife happy life.

Gary Peyton II getting paid at Blazers after gettingtitle with GSW. Glove Jnr will be a good defensive role player for Blazers who have made some nice moves to retool around Lillard.

Very impressed with what my Pacers have done, I’m very intrigued how they use the $31mil in cap-room they’ve accumulated. Part of me would love us to go chase DeAndre Ayton, but I think the smart thing is to take some on a salary dump or two for some picks.

The Pacers I’d assume would look for a steady rebuild if only to see Kevin Pritchard making some moves again. They could potentially reach a play in spot with a big signing but the East is stacked at the moment and teams in their standings area like Knicks and Wizards are probably looking to kick on sooner.

Buddy Hield has a decling contract and his shooting would be very interesting to any contender in the next year or so in a trade and Myles Turner is an expiring deal next summer.

I didn’t know OPJ’s wife was from Toronto either so a move there totally adds up. He had a nice rookie deal, a huge extension, has his title so can now go where is best for his personal life I agree. I haven’t seen the value of the deal yet

    All these Supermax contracts.

Only guys I would pay would be Curry, Jokic, giannis and maybe Luka.

Beal, KAT, all overpaid. Zion is injury prone, they overpaid for him.

Durant as great as he is, is off a achilles injury and has quite a few miles. I hope no team gives up too much to get him. Irving is pure cancer, i wouldn’t go anywhere near him. KNicks and lakers only stupid teams to touch him

LaVine’s deal was the one that shocked me. BB can be a 30ppg player but is he real super max level on a contract up until he is 33/34?

Giannis, Luka, Steph, Jokic I fully agree.are worth every dollar.

KD an all time great. But is he at 33 what say LBJ was when he joined Lakers at a similar age and giving up a lot of assets for KD from 34 to nearly 38 would be a risk. Sure he has good trade value and if he bought a title to a team that had never won one or not won for years maybe roll the dice.

I just see the Knicks going all in for some crazy deal. The Lakers would only give up one pick for Kyrie and hold fire on a new deal but the Knicks I could see doing some sort of hail mary to get a top guy in.

Blazers are going to give Lillard a 2 year extension from 2025 to 2027 worth $122 million! -$58.5 million in 25/26 and $63.3 player option for 26/27.

This seems a crazy deal for me as Lillard will be 35 when deal begins and pushing 37 when it ends. Sure he is a top level franchise player but he has two years left on his current deal and a $48,788 million player option for 24/25 when he’ll be 34 and that is the same that Giannis, Jimmy Butler will make that year and more than Gobert will and other similar level players have an option for that amount too.

Seems a strange move especially as he had a very injury hit season last year and it’s not like he is anywhere near FA.

Stupid by bazers, this will cripple them in the future..

Zero respect for Lillard wanting to be “loyal” to the blazers. Obviously doesnt want to win a championship, just cares about the money

An over the hill lillard making $60 mill per season is absurb.

I thought the knicks were the worse run team in the league,, the blazers now challenge them

I fully agree R377, if he had been posturing for an extension pre draft then Portland could easily have seen what options were out there. Of any teams high in the draft who hadn’t hit reset button they were well placed to do so.

If Lillard is still an all star at 35 plus then fair enough but I’ve always been wary about paying playersin their mid to late 30’s huge salaries on longer term deals as there can be a drop off, wear and tear, injuries etc. I’ve said the same about the return Nets want in the KD trade and KD at his best is at the top table whilst Lillard isn’t quite there.

By contrast we’ve seen James Harden take a $15 million pay cut for next season by opting out and siging a 1+1 deal. Is he looking for some good will with then hope of having a really good season and then try and get a mega deal in 2023 when the cap will likely be higher.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of Portland’s offseason. What are they trying to do? It almost seems like they are trying to rebuild through Dame. The Jerami Grant deal was a nice pick up but they followed that up by picking Shaedon Sharpe with the lotto pick who is the most raw ‘lotto projected prospect in this draft. I guess no decent deals came in so they picked the best player available, well he does not compliment their team so its gonna be hard to get decent value out of him unless he just balls out. They should’ve just picked Tari Eason, idk how so many teams passed on him.

I had liked what Portland had done to try and rebuild aropund Lillard by getting in a proven scorer in Grant. Sharpe i’d had as high as 5th on my mocks and I had him going in the top 8. But he’ll need time to develop and if they want to be win now then maybe wasn’t best pick.

A lot of teams passed on Tari Eason I agree and Rocket’s may have got a top 10 player at 17th in the draft.

Portland from their first title in 77 until 03 were in the play offs every year bar one. With Bill Walton and the Clyde the Glide era. We then had the Jail Blazers with all their antics before the lost dawn of the Roy/LMA era which was rebuild into the Dame era but where does it go now?

I don’t know about overrated but the most underperforming team/franchise for its size I always rhink is the Knicks due to their worth, size, value, fanbase. You always have the feeling they will pull some stupid trade or spend lots of money going nowhere.

The Celtics have signed Danilo Gallinari to a two-year, $13.3 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Would have liked to see them get Marcus Morris, but Gallo is a nice pickup. Wrap him up in cotton wool and just play him in 40-50 games to keep him healthy for the playoffs

Gallo is a good pick up and I agree his experience and quality will be huge in the play offs whee he’ll likely see more minutes than in regular season. Also he can slip into the starting line up if needed alrhough he’ll mainly be a top bench option.

The Pacers pursuing Ayton was a bi of a strange one as him and Turner would potentially create a the same problem they had with Sabonis and if they had then let Turner walk next summer was Ayton an upgrade over Sabonis if he had stayed. Also they have put money behind Theis so he’ll need minutes too.

Did Ayton sign the deal to force Phoenix’s hand as the Pacers have always been quite conservative about making FA splashes and look like they are on a long term rebuild and have loads of cap space. I could see them having interest for Hield given his shooting range and decling contract. Also Turner as an expiring deal will have trade value.

If the Spurs could flip Poeltl for a future first rounder it would be a good move for all sides as they’d get a return on him and a contender would get a serviceable big on a very good value deal. He’d still be in play when the season comes and even into new year a contender with a likely 20 to 30 pick would happily flip that to give them a better shot at next year’s title.

It was interesting how Horford developed a 3 point range well into his career when he was a multiple All Star already, also improved his point abilities in his 30’s to help extend his career at the top level. He has of course always been an elite defender and is an excellent veteran presence for Boston.

If he does play on after next year, no doubt any number of contenders would offer him another year.

Blake Griffin has signed one year deal with the Celtics with Gallinari and Robert Williams out at the moment it gives them another big body plus vast bench experience and a former all star.

He can play useful rotation minutes and help Horford mind his minutes too so if he can still be a useful performer he is an excellent pick up.
