NBA Comparison: Bismack Biyombo

Strenghts: Standing 6-11 he has solid size, combined with tremendous mobility and an amazing wingspan .... He’s a great athlete, showing a remarkable coordination for his height, combined with a solid lateral speed and leaping abilities ... His mobility makes him really effective in P&R situations, both on the offensive and the defensive side ... Offensively he’s got great reflexes and he shows good sense of position and timing for the cut after the screen, often finishing with power, finishing above the rim ... Defensively he provides great pressure and intimidation thanks to his ability to switch to the backcourt player and to quickly slide to the painted area in help situations ... He has a terrific motor, constantly being active on the floor ... He has good instincts as a rebounder (averaging 13 rebounds per 40 minutes), and he’s a good intimidator and shot blocker, thanks to his athletic abilities and explosiveness ...

Weaknesses: Even if he’s already rather solid from the physical standpoint, he can bulk up his upper body to better withstand contact against bigger opponents and traditional big men since he often struggles when the physical level of the competition arises ... He completely lacks a post game, he struggles at effectively taking post position and the ball handling skills won’t allow him to create his own shot in the painted area, he needs to have movement or receive the ball close to the rim. Even if he has good hands he lacks range, basically lacking a jump shot and all his offense is based in the paint ... Defensively he needs to improve his posture and the fundamentals, sometimes he tends to focus too much on the ball being forced for the help ... This leads to early foul troubles even as a solid as a blocker.

Notes: He moved to Spain from Senegal in 2010, recruited by the youth powerhouse Torrejon, a solid team in the Madrid area, specializes in developing youth talents. In 2012 he moved to Fuenlabrada (another team in the Madrid area) in ACB, and his stats has been improving since ... He averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds in 15 minutes on the court thus far ...
