NBA Comparison: Tyler Honeycutt

Strengths: Long, athletic wing prospect who shows a good deal of upside … Has a beautiful outside shooting stroke … Above average run/jump athlete who will flush it if he gets an angle to the basket … Good speed and fluidity makes him a strong transition player … Shot has excellent form. gets feet set quickly, on balance, and shows the range to hit shots consistently from college 3 … Shows good speed off the dribble, usually beating slower, less athletic forwards off the bounce and has nice finishing ability on runners in the lane … Shows some ability to post up and play with his back to the basket … Likes to roam out to the perimeter, where he is a quality catch and shoot threat … Can be a factor as a shot blocker with his length …

Weaknesses: Needs to get stronger/tougher … Doesn’t always play with a high level of intensity, particularly defensively. Should look to become more assertive as a scorer now that he’s an upperclassman … Already the age of a senior going into his junior season, so his upside will be questioned to a degree due to being older … Defensively, he doesn’t show the desire or technique that he should. His length and athleticism would allow him to be an above average defender if he put his mind to it … Seems to struggle to live up to his potential and talent level some … Shot just 34% from 3 as a sophomore which is suprising considering his shooting form. Needs to cut out the off balance fadaway shots and focus on better shot selection, and always taking on balance shots … Rebounding needs to improve, just 2.5 per game as a sophomore, though in limited minutes … Playing in the Mountain West will make it more difficult for him to convince scouts that he can accomplish the same feats consistently against higher level athletes …

Notes: Came off the bench as a sophomore and won the Mountain West Conference 6th man of the year award averaging 9.6 ppg in just 21.2 mpg … Will look to become the Horned Frogs main player in his junior year …
