As some of you probably remember, Woods was extremely hypped when he was about 16, he was doing forehead-at-rim-level dunks and looked like a young westbrook from a athleticism stand point.

Like Woods, Williamson is growing a similar hype, he is a early-puberty, college-level athlete,  playing against 6’0 ft 160 lbs white kids that are 16. His jumper is rarely an option as he can just bum-rush into the paint at will. His playmaking simply becomes passing out of double/triple teams after bum-rushing.

All in all, he looks like a good prospect, but I still need to see him play full games against good competition.

Im not saying i need to see good players play against good competition to analyze wether or not they are good. For example, when Giannis was younger, he had an Aura around him when he played albeit the international competition being crap. He ran pick and rolls, split defenses, start a eurostep from nearly the ft line, and overall handled the ball like a PG.

Williamson in the other hand is just playing bully ball out there.

    Thoughts?

Is he a future all star?

The only thing I know about Seventh Woods is that he’s a freshman at UNC and he’s been rather unproductive.

So if UNC recruits this kid, I hope he’s not the next Seventh Woods. One is plenty.

Unlike Seventh, who is only 6’2” and 180 pounds, Zion Williamson is 6’7” and measured a 6’10” wingspan.

Since Zion’s game is so driven by athleticism, I have a hard time really projecting his NBA outlook, right now, but I would certainly think he’ll be a very good college player. He’ll be playing bigger, stronger, and more skilled players, but he’s a beastly dude, even at a major conference D1 program. I don’t think he’ll be averaging 2 points per game as a freshman.

    Also…

Seventh was essentially a 6’2” wing when he burst on the scene, and his guard skills never really caught all the way up to the level it would take for him to be a freshman getting major PT for North Carolina. That being said, I don’t think he’s a flop by any means. He’s an 18 year old kid (who’s actually really young for his class) with crazy hops, playing for a very good NCAA program. There’s room for him to improve, whether he hits the NBA or not isn’t a lock, but I’d take the over on him being a productive NCAA player.

6’7 and almost fully developed, I dont think hell grow more than 1-2 inches. I doubt his game as a future small forward in the NBA as he basically  never shoots. Leaving him as a perimeter oriented PF with no shot, in the mold of Julius Randle, with more handles and even worst jump shooter.

ESPN has him as a PF, just checked, and I have to fully agree because he resembles one. However, most of his points come via fastbreak and bum-rushing from the perimeter. No pick and rolls, no post ups, no catch and shoot. Just alley oops, and fast break buckets.

Screams tweener in a similar way Woods does.

My initial thought when I saw his highlights was slightly more athletic Anthony Bennett, but I don’t want to make a judgment on a 16 year old. I’ll wait until he plays against other top talent in the next couple of years

I see a Miles Bridges athlete with a Julius Randle type game.  He’ll be a good player in college, but I want to see him play against more high level talent before projecting him further.

I was getting a very Miles Bridges type vibe from his athleticism. If he can shoot well against good competition he will be a top 10 pick.

Seventh has a WAYS to go before he is a productive college player.  That video of him as a sophomore in high school dunking was probably the worst thing that could’ve happened to him.  Everybodyexpected him to be the next great player and his guard skills never caught up with his athleticism.  He’s playing limited minutes at Carolina behind Joel Berry and Nate Britt.  He’s way more talented than Nate Britt and should be getting minutes over him but he just isn’t a very good basketball player right now.  He hasn;t been able to show off the athleticism that made him famous in high school because he’s been nursing a knee injury all season I believe.  He’s an atrocious shooter.  I believe after a summer of working on his game in Chapel Hill he will come back next year and be very good.

He looks way less intriguing to me than Doumbouya and is more than 6 months older with roughly the same attributes right now as a future NBA PF.

It’s going to be fun watching both of them grow and everything, there is still plenty of time before the 2019 draft. Their body type is concerning (looks the kind that adds weight in a bad greasy way…). Doumbouya is taller, faster and playing with grown men in France already so it will be hard for Zion to catch up. I mean Doumbouya is putting 21 & 9 against a team that features former NBAer/D-Leaguer DeQuan Jones and former all american Deonte Burton in their prime ages just one month after he turned 16. He also appears to be a decent 3pt shooter which is a must in today’s NBA.

Yeah, I was thinking about this the other day. I think he might be okay in college, but he’s got a lot of developing to do if he wants an NBA career. It looks like he can’t really shoot right now; seems he’s just a straight drive to the rim type guy/grab offensive rebound and dunk guy. And at his size, that just won’t fly in the NBA at all.

I’d give Seventh some time before we classify him as a bust. He’s not gonna get much playing time at all behind a top 5 PG. Heck, Joel Berry seemed like a flop his freshman year. Everyone is different. If he rounds out his offensive game, I could see him being a Joel Berry type player, which is far from a bust.

Frankie Vision from youtube compared Zion to a Julius 1 week after this thread.
