eprizzle14ParticipantRodney Stuckey- good point guard love his size, playmaking skills and finishing ability.
Marvin Williams- dissapointed in his first couple years and everyone talks about how the Hawks passed on Deron and Paul but last year he showed some skill to go with that length and athletcism from the 3 spot
Wilson Chandler- dude was a steal. Is he the best player on the Knicks roster?
Javale McGee- 7footer with his coordination/ ability to run the floor= top 12 center in the future
Thadeus Young- really had a coming out party last year what is his ceiling and is he a PF or SF?
Who will have the best career and how good will these guys be?

d-grizzlyParticipanttake stuckey off the list and the list becomes that much better.

redbaboonParticipanti don’t get why people never respect stuckey. We’ve all seen him penetrate on the best defenses and finish with a foul, we saw him step up in a rookie year in which he missed half the season and take over chauncey’s role in the playoffs. He is big, but he is a point. Being a pistons fan i’ve seen some good passes from him that others haven’t, and he’s only gonna have more opportunities this year. By the way, he scored 40 points one night and then he got 38 the next night, he should be on the list. I don’t know if he’ll ever be a real star, but he definetely could be.

R-Dot-13Participantwhats wrong with stuckey?
and i think its a good list, with Chandler and Young becoming the best players out of them all

knicksfreakParticipantWilliams will never be great. He just doesnt have “it”, whatever that is. He hasnt improved enough to show he can even be a big part of a playoff team.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:03am #191108
eprizzle14Participantwas the reason for the post. He’s a little rough around the edges but he can take it to the cup and he’s got a 2-1 assist to turnover rate which isnt bad for a young sometimes wreckless attacker like Stuckey.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:16am #191128

Pierre JordanParticipantbeing “top” 12 Center….. thats horrible. I like him though and I think he’s better than that. If you can name 11 centers better than him then…. yea….
I don’t understand the stucky madness… I really don’t.
Wilson Chandler, Thaddeus Young, and MarV are all great though. Trust me, if the Hwaks were built around Marv, you guys would see his talent. But due to the fact that they’ve always had 498039 other players at the SF/PF position, its hard for him to get shots.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:22am #191135
xbadgerhustlerParticipanthahahaha 4988039 players at SF/PF… I’d agree, the hawks have done an awful job of picking guys with complementary talents. I like the Joe Johnson-Josh Smith pairing, but the rest of their guys don’t really fit together. at all. marvin williams is like a worse version of josh smith- long and athletic, but limited offensive skills. That said, he’ll probably blossom soon enough, he just needs to put it together mentally.
wilson chandler, IMO, is the best player on the knicks, but that’s not saying much.
McGee is too raw at this point and hasn’t proven anything so I don’t think he deserves an recognition. he’s definitely a good prospect though.
Thad Young is a stud… i’m surprised the hawks didn’t draft him, lol, he’d fit the 3/4 mold.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:33am #191150
MallStax5Participantchandler might be the best player on the knicks.
and yea marvin wlliams wont be a star he will be like a hustle guy and a guy that can come in get a couple rebounds and then come out.
wilson chandler is going to be good but we are all saying that now..
because there was not ONE person in the forum that thought wilson chandler was going to be drafted that high lol i didnt even kno who he was until he got drafted.
i still think the sixers should have chosen al throton but o well.0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:43am #191170

Pierre JordanParticipantA huustle guy? Nah, at worst he’ll be Al Harrington 2.0. MarV can shoot, his midrange shot is deadly, especially on the baseline.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:48am #191175

knicksfreakParticipantMarvin Williams had a decent shooting season last year but he is not deadly from the field. Hes just a role player that doesnt possess half the offensive repetoire that Harrington has. Williams best asset is his length that he uses to disrupt passing lanes. He wasnt even that good at UNC. He is a borderline starter.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:55am #191187
xbadgerhustlerParticipantmarvin williams is already better than al harrington. lol harrington is a lazy, selfish guy from what i’ve ever seen of him. He’s very talented, but he never really put it all together, IMO. at least marvin williams tries hard
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:56am #191192

JoeWolf1Mario Chalmers is the next elite defensive point guard, as he adjusts to the NBA game even more he is going to be a nightmare to players he is guarding, quick hands, quick feet, and a High IQ, he will be averaging 3 steals per game soon, and is a pretty good shooter, ballhandler, and floor runner, There are a lot of great young pg’s coming in the league now, but a lot of them are overhyped and Mario is going to pass up some of them, heneeds some recognition as a up and coming young PG, a little like Terrell Brandon, but a better defender
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:59am #191197

JNixonParticipantMarvin Williams has hands down one of the best mid range games in the NBA. Bar none. He also shot the 3 alot better this season. Trust me, like Pierre said, that baseline jumper is a thing of beauty. He also is a VERY underrated defender. He defended LeBron the best out of anybody I saw in the regular season. He’s a strong athletic guy, and I’ll say he would be an all-star if he played a bigger role for a team. He has all the tools, except he isnt the best ball handler. But that doesnt matter because he has a nice 1st step and athleticism.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 9:06am #191207

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantWilson Chandler and Thadeus Young I agree. The others are ok to me. They don’t wow me.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 9:30am #191225

auberParticipantWilson Chandler is a product of the system, much like Shawn Marion was. The guy on any other offense is going to put up Travis Outlaw like numbers.

the microwaveParticipanti wouldnt base much on marvs ONLY year in college lol.. Who was on that tm, b4 u want to say “HE WASNT THAT GOOD IN COLLEGE”…. Come on now, get a clue. Marv was a Freshman who went right to the NBA…Was he even a top 4 option on that tm??? come on knicksfreak u should know this my man, your usually on point.
College teammate of Sean May , Raymond Felton, and Minnesota’s Rashad McCants….David Noel / Jawad Williams were on that team too, also jawad was a 2nd rd draft choice, and i know noel has been in / out the lg..
So your basing his skill at UNC on being the 4th best option at best on his tm…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:28am #191281
the microwaveParticipanta little more marv info…. Sorry i have to keep coming knicksfreak must be talking as his alter ego right now….
As a freshman, Williams was an integral part of the North Carolina 2004-2005 national championship basketball team. He averaged 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in 22.2 minutes.[citation needed] As the team’s sixth man, Williams provided the veteran Tar Heels squad with an explosive spark off the bench. He scored the go-ahead basket in North Carolina’s 75-70 victory over the University of Illinois in the 2005 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship game. Williams was recognized for his efforts when he was named as an Honorable Mention to the All-ACC team.
(U SURE HE SUCKED IN COLLEGE??)…. he definitely came into his own last yr in the nba.. I dont think he’ll be as good as Thad, but he is definitely a baller)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:36am #191283

knicksfreakParticipantHe gets good looks playing with talented players. He cannot be a #1-3 option on a great team. I do give him credit for working hard on his shot over the years. His defense is my favorite thing about him(especially defending passing lanes like I said) but he is someone that is overrated because of his draft position. He had a much improved season last year. He didnt look lost for the first time in his career. I never understood why he was taken 2nd. I felt the same way about Brandan Wright being drafted so high.
And no way is he better than Al Harrington. Not just because I’m a Knicks fan either. I’m not very high on AL.
I agree with Auber that Chandler is somewhat a product of the D’Antoni system but Auber you take too much credit away from players in D’Antoni’s system. Chandler is a solid starting 3 but he needs to work on his mid-range game a little more. I am a huge fan of his but that just shows how NY fans make role players out to be stars.

the microwaveParticipantafter the work he put in, in 08-09? i agree it was first time we seen it all put together for him, but how many yrs does he have to do it in a row for one to say…. ok this kids got it… In my eyes along with his age ive already seen it. NOw if he came out of school as a 23 yr old senior, then id be with you , a non believer.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:39am #191287

knicksfreakParticipantI never said Marvin sucked. I just said he wasnt that good in college. I should have said he was overrated. I never saw anything in his college game that justified him being taken #2 even without CP3, D-Will hindsight. He was not a game changer. He was the most athletic player on a National Champion team. His size/athleticism is what got him drafted.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantjust for the record, microwave, rashad mccants doesn’t play for the wolves anymore, he was traded to the kings last year
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:44am #191291
the microwaveParticipantmy bad badger i was having what i refer to as a brain fart lol.. I had may, felton, jawad, noel on the brain but couldnt think of mccants.. So im sure its older post… thanks for clarifying though u caught me in a slip up
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:45am #191292
STEVEDOT2ParticipantCHANDLER IS NICE ….WAT DO YOU MEEN TRAVIS OULAW TYPE OF PLAYER…. in the 07-08 blazer season travis was the most clutch person on the team…travis came out of highschool hes a good player he juss doesnt get the minutes he deserve with rudy and batum in potland and martell webster coming back…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:47am #191294
the microwaveParticipantu sure it wasnt the fact that he could have went pro right from HS??? The hype started way earlier than college homie… Look at his HS stats, he could have gone anywhere, but chose to go to a winner… Im sure if he went to UW he would have dropped a 20 piece from the door.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 11:10am #191306

knicksfreakParticipantHe did nothing spectacular at UNC. He was another potential pick that had good athleticism to go along with good size.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 12:55pm #191355

morgatilParticipantWhy bash Stuck? I mean, I don’t really see anyone else on this list scoring 40 and then 38 with 4 All-Stars on their teams.
He really could be a break out candidate this year.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 1:19pm #191374

sheltwon3ParticipantI like all the guys on this list and I agree that there are all some young talented players on rise. Marvin Williams would be a Rashard Lewis type on most teams but because of the similiar skill set of a lot of their players his role is greatly diminished and he is used to just fitting in so he does. He is very skilled and has a lot of raw athletic ability. I like Stuckney and I believe that in a few season people will be like really on this guys nuts. He has all the right ingrediates but he needs time to cook. McGee could be like the top 5 Center soon. He size length and perimeter skills for a big are on point. He needs to get smarter and stronger. If you look at what he can do now and he is still relatively young and what some guys who you may rank higher than him can do, you will not see that big of a different. I like Bynum but McGee would be a steal if the Lakers could trade Bynum for McGee. What I said is debateable and I know that but McGee would help their defense a lot better than Bynum does and offensively he can catch lobs that other can not. McGee is already to me like a more skilled offensive minded Tyson Chandler. That may not sound like much but when healthy Chandler is a beast on defense and the king of lobs. McGee after this season coming up should be close to taking that position. Young is a young guy who is versatile and learning who is already ahead of the curve. Finding him a set position would be wise for Philly. The Elton Brand trade could Hinder him because in all honesty Iguodala is 3 and the Sixer need a stronger 2 but I do think the Ig and Young combo no matter where they play is solid. Mario Chamlers will be nice once he improves more on his rookie year. I hope Heat continue to have faith in him as a player because he is decent offensively but is so cold on defense. Heat just need to find an Identity. Beasley was the not the right pick for them. He would do so much better on another team. If I was the heat if they can get a more defined 3 and pick up say Boozer, i would move Beasley.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 1:20pm #191375

sheltwon3ParticipantChandler is solid as well. He looked good before Mike D came there but like Ariza getting minutes in the right system does well for your stats and growth.

Bryant24ParticipantRudy Gay is a beast he can drop at least 25 on u every game.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:42pm #191550
xbadgerhustlerParticipantbut he doesn’t… rudy gay has been one of the most athletically gifted athletes at every level of basketball he has every played and he’s ALWAYS had the ability to drop a whole bunch of points. frankly, he’s always had the ability/gifts to be the BEST player on the floor at every level he’s played. the fact remains he hasn’t ever put it all together. he doesn’t have that killer instinct/drive that GREAT players have.
