The8thDeadlySinParticipantA few things to note about Juwan Staten.
He is averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 2 steals a game.
He has been shooting 57.4 percent from the field.
He is shooting 9 free throws a night at 73.3 percent.
Lastly, he is leading the nation in Assists-TO ratio. Hes had 38 assists on the year but only 4 TOs.
Im sure im just a homer but he looks very impressive thus far. Idk how many people know much about him but if he continues close to this, he wont be back to WVU next season..

juice304ParticipantStaten is as strong and quick as any PG in college hoops. He’s impossible to keep out of the lane. He must have put in a ton of work on his jumper cuz now he’s knocking down a few of those as well. Hopefully he can keep this up once Big 12 play begins. Thanks for the updates, though, i didn’t get a chance to see either game.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIve heard that he spent 4 months in Atlanta working with a personal trainer in the off season. Regardless of what he did, he has improved a lot. With the rule change its gonna be hard for anyone to keep him from driving.

JoeWolf1I noticed Staten as well, and I’m not a WVU fan. He’s been one of the most productive point guards in the NCAA thus far, and I think WVU is a team that could be pretty darn good next year if he stays. He’s not a long range shooter, and he’s only 6’1”, so although he’s very good, he doesn’t strike me as a guy who’ll bolt for the pros early. He’s already old for his class after sitting out a transfer year, so I think he’d be best off coming back and playing for a potentially really good Mountaineers team.
I think they’ll probably be an NIT team this year, or low NCAA seed, but it’s still hard to gauge, because they haven’t played anyone good yet.
Staten is a pure point, and with Harris and Henderson rounding out the guard spots, WVU will have a veteran 3 guard rotation that can flat out score. I mentioned Williams, who I also like, but you mentioned he may be kind of dumb, and I know you’ve seen more WVU games than I. Still, when a 6’9” 250 lb 18 year old starts off averaging 11 and 8, it’s a pretty good sign going forward.
ODU is okay, and I think they could potentially get Wisconsin if they win tonight. Either way, I think WVU is kind of an intriguing team. They have some nice pieces, but they’re relatively untested as a unit. Either way, I think they have a nice thing going for next year, as this unit can grow this season and potentially start next year in the top 25.
