I’m a knick fan and I would like to see them get younger and unfortunately they do not have a draft pick this year. The sixers are currently getting the heat and thunder’s pick in 2016 in addition to possibly getting the lakers pick. In this scenario where the sixers end up with the 1st and 2nd pick could you see a scenario where the trade those two other first round picks to the Knicks for maybe Melo? I know its a lot to give up but the Knicks need to get younger and the sixers desperately need a strong veteran. On paper, the sixers wouldnt look so bad with Simmons, Ingram, Embiid(if healthy), Okafor, Noel, Saric and Melo. I’m confident that Phil can pick out 2 quality players in the first round that would complement this team. I don’t know, let me know what you think.

Yes.  It would be a bad idea for Philly to make that deal….

Melo has a no trade clause in his contract. Why would he agree to go to Philadelphia?

If you trade the first pick for Melo its basically a straight trade Ben Simmons for Melo- which would be an extremely bad trade for Philly. And if you get the 2nd pick back for Melo you won’t be getting a player of Melos calibre back, yes he’s aging but hes still a premier player in the league and yiu take him away from that Knicks team for say Brandon Ingram like the mock says they would lose 60 games

He’s talking about trading two late first round picks for melo. Not the first or second pick.

I would say if you could get melo for that little definitely do it. Then trade him for something else that might be a better fit. I think you’d be buying low and able to get something more valuable to the team.

Has there ever been a player more polarizing than Melo? Homer Knicks fans, and a lot of casual NBA fans think he’s a superstar, and  more realistic Knicks fans (myself included) and fans who actually know the game think he is overrated, and overpaid.

As a Knicks fan I would personally thank Mr. Colangelo/Hinke myself for giving us two first round picks AND taking on Melo’s albatross of a contract. The Knicks would get even younger, have a ton of money to spend in free agency, and could build the team around Kristaps Porzingis.

i still have Melo listed as the 5th best Swingman in the game.  I’ve always hated his game.  Although he is a powerhouse offensively, he’s not playing 1on1 or 3on3 basketball.

As most people are aware, he’s always been a black hole on offense.  Lebron is the complete opposite and its a shame Carmelo never got the hint.  He doesn’t raise anyone on his team’s game.

He would be useful on the Bulls as a go to scorer since they don’t really play in a system anyway.

The thing I always hated about him is that he raises his game when he’s playing in all-star games.  it really depends on who else he’s playing with when he wants to play like the man.  He cant’ just do it on his own, he’s not really an alpha-dog.  He needs good company to play his best.  Thats not waht great players do. Great players motivate themselves!!

Lebron, Durant, Kawhi/George (whatever order), Melo?  I mean, there’s a pretty big drop off in between 4 and 5 there, but it looks right.  How much of that is that the other good 3s in the league are young or pure role players?  And, here’s heresy (and my usual unpopular opinion alert):  Melo is better, but is he better/does he do more for a team than Batum?
