Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI’m curious. Would Memphis do this deal
Wilson Chandler for Mike Conley and the 28th pick?
With the 12th pick, Memphis could take Henry and move Mayo to the 1.

OhCanada-ParticipantWhy would they do that when there is so much talent at the wing position around 12?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 6:35am #335364

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe deal might be doable depending on the Grizzlys oppinion of Conley (They are thought to be interested in drafting Bledsoe)…. but Mayo is not a point guard

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantAt 12, who’s there? Maybe Henry or Hayward or even Babbitt.
You could move Mayo to the 1 and use the 12th pick on a Wing or a big ( Because Zach is leaving in 2011) You also get a player who can contribute just in case Rudy Gay bolts.

bobforteParticipantwhat about bradley at 12
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 6:43am #335370

PlatypusParticipantGay is restricted so they will likely sign him and they dont need another small forward when they have Ronnie Brewer
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 6:45am #335371

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBrewer is a FA too…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 6:55am #335374

PlatypusParticipanthe’ll be resigned and if not they can just draft someone with one of there 3 picks
Example
12. Patterson….. future at powerforward
25. Bledose….. future point with Conley starting at first but Bledsoe taking over eventually
28. Robinson to replace Brewer because Robinson is athletic and plays good DBledsoe – Conley
Mayo – Young
Gay – Brewer or Robinson
Randolph – Patterson
Gasol – Thabeet0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 6:57am #335376

PlatypusParticipantThey need Conley for depth at the point guard

memphisgriz731Participantnah man we wouldnt do that deal. i’m still somewhat of a believer that conley will improve. i think we’ll draft a point guard but still give conley this next season to get it going otherwise i think he is a quality backup pg. i dont think oj needs to play point the more i think about it. at first i kind of like the idea but now i feel like he is best fit as a scoring sg than a pg

Your sense of Wilson Chandler’s value could not be more inflated.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI asked a question BTPH. Fall off my nuts man.
I just asked because I don’t know. Then Conley for Chandler straight up then?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 7:41am #335398

memphisgriz731Participantthats leaves a huge hole at pg now. i feel like there’s no way the griz trade conley unless they get a pg in return and even then i’m still not sure if we trade him
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 7:46am #335400

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI dunno, I feel Mayo could play the point position.
You move Mayo to the 1 then draft a Bledsoe or Armon Johnson

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantWilson Chandler is good enough to be in the league, not good enough to have any sort of value to a team that he is not on. No team is ever going to give up a player or pick of substance (and while Conley has disappointed, he has value) for a guy who is just so incredibly average. He is New York’s Al Thornton, Ryan Gomes, Carlos Delfino, or Jared Dudley. The league is crawling with average wing men.
If you want to see the Knicks get a pick, just feel good knowing they have the cash to buy one if they want it. The money will certainly go farther to facilitate a deal than dangling Chandler.

severinParticipantIMO it’s a good deal for both teams. Conley is a lot like Rondo skill-wise. (I can feel the backlash already) Chandler is a good player and the grizzzlies will take him as rudy gay insurance.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 7:56am #335413

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantFirst off, Wilson Chandler is better then each player you named. He’s not a average player. He had 15 and 5 this season and 14 and 5 the previous season.
I’m not saying Chandler is worth a top 10 pick. I said first, would Chandler for Conley and a pick work? The answer? No. But I think Chandler could be a good #3 option in the NBA. He’s only 23 years old. I think he has value in the NBA. How much value? I don’t know.
Value is a state of opinion. We only know a couple players value in the NBA. We know the stars and the not so good players. Perfect example: The Chicago Bulls want Chris Bosh, Do you think if Toronto wanted Joakim Noah, would Chicago do it? I don’t think so because Noah’s position and value is good around the league.
I think Chandler could be a starter for around 15-20 teams in the NBA. He isin’t a average player…

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHow many better than average players do you think the Knicks have? And how does that mesh with the fact that they have not won more than 33 games in six years?
The numbers Chandler put up don’t mean much. Marquis Daniels averaged 14-5 in on a bad Indiana team, then he went to a good Boston team and he barely played. What is the difference between him and Chandler? Average players can put up numbers and look pretty good in a favorable situation and be rather insignificant in bad ones.

memphisgriz731Participanti dont want mayo to have to play the 1 he’s better suited playing the 2 where he can do what he does best and this is score. the grizzlies already have oj mayo, rudy gay (worst case senerio S&T) , ronnie brewer (who IMO will be brought back), sam young, and damarre carroll. if we did trade for chandler we would not give up conley maybe sam young ans a future 2nd round pick or something but we wouldnt give up much

doubledribblerParticipantI do think that Chandler is expendable , but if he is traded I think he gets traded with Eddy Curry in a sign and trade for a max guy that wants to go there. Sure the Knicks have the capspace, but they can use the extra money to help sign some more talent and not end up with a bunch of minimum deal guys. There may be a team that wants a guy like Chandler and that would be willing to take Curry on for a year, try to use him in a future trade or try to get a buyout. So from that standpoint, the trade would likely include Rudy Gay. Just not sure how likely Grizz would do that without more incentive, especially considering they are going to make a hard push to resign him.

montrell_Participantif we can make a splash and get either collison or paul, im all for this trade
ofcourse to get collison we’d have to take on a big contract preferably peja seeing he’s an expiring
sign and trade rudy for peja and collison and trade conley and the 28 for chandler
gasol
zach
chandler
mayo
collison0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 10:15am #335509

memphisgriz731Participantmontrell – so you’re saying we just let rudy walk and not do a S&T?
0- Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 11:03am #335523

montrell_Participantthe sign and trade is for collison and peja i know chandler wont put up the offensive numbers rudy do, but he plays defense, 15 and 5 aint bad is it 20 and 6 NO! but chandler can be that type of player with 1.5 steals and blocks
he’s only 23 i think he’s a few days younger than i am

StF616ParticipantI thought Wilson Chandler was busted 4 Smokin Weed in his Car?
So he not gonna be Suspended or Nothing like that??0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 11:18am #335531

memphisgriz731Participantsorry i didnt see that. if we do the deal for chandler who should we take with the #12?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 7:59pm #335810
grizz32ParticipantIts deffinately not a terrible trade but OJ can not play PG as of right now. He even admitted he is a bad pg. Once he works on his ball handling and proves he can play with the all in his hands under pressure I would like the trade
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/19/2010 - 11:15pm #335831
morestealsthanscoresParticipantthat’s an interesting one. i’d take it, simply for the fact i don’t rate conley, and do rate chandler. would probably have to find a felton/ridnour in free agency or hope eric bledsoe fell, cause no way i want to reach for a PG at 12…
