UNCbasketballbumParticipantDoc Rivers was hit with a tech for yelling, "Come on Eddie!" to an official. He was caught on audio saying, "That’s the worst technical I’ve ever gotten." I’ve never seen a coach get t’ed up for something like that, especially in a conference finals game. Did anyone else see this? Did I miss something?

SpacegrassParticipantDoc , Jesus , and KG have all gotten techs. Looks like the refs may have confused their Bayer aspirin with their wives estrogen pills.

Charlie SheenParticipantThe NBA will not let the Miami Heat lose so the Celtics better just play ball and let the refs do what they’re doing
Like I said before Miami Heat games are so lopsided when it comes to officiating its crazy

ChewyParticipantStar Players get a longer leash from the refs. That’s why Lebron and Wade get some much room to complain/argue/cry. However, Boston isn’t lacking in Star Power with KG, Pierce, Allen and Rondo but they don’t seem to be given much room to talk. I don’t get it.

Wavy BagelsParticipant…no technical will ever be as worse than these…

GrandmamaParticipantThe technicals I witnessed tonight were an absolute joke, in the Eastern Conference Finals??? F*ckin refs

mgreener_34ParticipantThe worst part about this, and the reason why I dislike the NBA at times, is that not a single person can come out and say something unless they want to spend $1,000 per word. I couldn’t imagine how frustrating that must be as a player or a person.

Ghost01ParticipantI’m glad it gave the Celtics a case that like those 3 points the Heat got via Free Throw were the reason they got beat down by 14…

PabloFiascoParticipantThe points rendered by the technical calls weren’t the issue. It was the disruption in the flow of the game that ruined

Forte IVParticipantThe worst techincal was when Reggie Evans high fived Blake Griffin.

KayjayParticipantEver check the freethrows after a game. Last time I checked, Miami only took 2 more free throws than Boston. I’m js.

TRC1991Participantyeah some of the comments above are purely bitter… Miami won by 14 points, the technical fouls had very little to do with the outcome… Miami’s just better.

Thats a technical on Grandmama

JunkYardDogParticipantmaybe the celt’ lost the game by 14 points, but the problem is a technical changes the pace of the game and changes the way you handle the game (the mental part).
those technicals clearly change the rest of the game… even if nobody can tell if they change the final result.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt was a bad call, but I do not really think it effected the flow of the game at that point. KG did not get a T, he just flat out knocked the ball away after a basket had been scored. It was an obnoxious play and seeing that they had been hit with a delay of game already, led to a technical foul shot. Hell, the Ray Allen T was also pretty horrible and was just him blowing off some steam.
Nonetheless, to say these plays "changed the flow of the game" in this case is a total misnomer. They really didn’t. Most of them happened in the first half and actually seemed to hype the Celtics up quite a bit. I would love for the refs to let things go so we would not have these type of discussions, but to say that these T’s orchestrated the Heat being the flat out better team in Game 1 sounds like a batch of sour grapes. They sucked, but they were no excuse for the way Boston played the game in general.

capecodderParticipantThe point is not whether or not the T’s affected this game (they did not), but just a look to what might happen in other games

JoeWolf1Some pretty shitty calls against opposing teams have been following the Heat all through the playoffs. That bad thing is that they still would be in the ECF if those calls wouldn’t have been made. If front office NBAers want Miami in the Finals, then let them earn it…it’s not like they need those kind of breaks all the time.
This is starting to become a bad joke.

rwd5035ParticipantEven after the technicals, it was tied at half time. Just because some calls went against Boston doesn’t give them an out. They got run off the floor.

Toronto16ParticipantThe officiating is ruining the NBA which I love so dearly….

mgreener_34ParticipantA lot of people in this thread don’t believe in the presense of momentum, huh? Basketball is a fast paced game, so when the ball is stopped, and the other team is getting free points it’s kind of disrupting. Look no further then the Heat vs Knicks game one. It was a tough game until the ref blew a call, the Heat hit a three, and that was pretty much the game because it completely sucks the life out of you as a player.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/29/2012 - 7:59am #674715
M-EazyParticipantThe Heat have been getting call after call from the refs this post season. I still remember Game 1 Round 1 Melo got a tech for bounce passing the ball to the ref after a foul call. It was a simple bounce pass. No kind of aggression. The tech on Ray Allen last night was bogus but the foul call that came before the tech was the worst part. It was obviously not a foul at all.

rwd5035Participant@mgreener_34
If they were in the 2nd half, I’d buy your argument, but they happened in the 1st half, and it was a tie game at the half. Boston still had the chance to gain momentum in the 2nd half, and they couldn’t do it.
