I’m actually disappointed the twolves didn’t take this deal. What is the downside to this deal? I don’t see love staying in Minnesota anyway and the fact that the wolves could rebuild with the draft class and pieces a seemed like a great idea

Kevin Love is a top 10 player when healthy. Unless you project anyone from this draft reaching that status, and very few would, you don’t trade a guy like Love for that package. You don’t win championships with a collection of above average starters and borderline allstars, you need to have a top level player (and usually more than one) to really contend for the title. Now I understand the trade if you really feel like he’s going to be leaving anyway, but I don’t think that is the case. Flip has publicly stated how important Love is to the team, and they are trying to put the bad feelings behind them and put the onus for that on Khan. I think Love will be open to signing there, especially if they are playing well and have talent. The team has had so many injuries I think everyone would like to see what they can do when they are healthy. Plus is this really the only time an offer like this will be on the table? Even if Love comes out and says that he won’t sign with Minnesota teams will be lining up to try and trade for him, and you can get a deal as good as this one later.

They won’t get an offer as good as this one.

There’s just too much extra BS that goes into NBA trades. For example OKC has the best assets but it would involve the Wolves taking on Perkins, which won’t happen cause it woudl cost them Pek.

The only way it coudl probably be a better offer is if the Wolves just take firsts and pick better players themselves.

I’m not sure why you think they wouldn’t get a better offer and what the BS is that you’re talking about. I also don’t see your OKC example. How do they have the best assests? They aren’t trading Durant or Westbrook, so what are these assests you’re talking about? The 12th pick in the draft? Serge Ibaka? Jeremy Lamb or Reggie Jackson? Ibaka has the most value out of anyone on their roster they can trade, but he is clearly not a franchise guy. If this is the best offer that you can come up with, then yeah I agree the Cleveland one is way better. Next years draft is looking like the best one in a decade, and you can get a lottery pick and other assets for Love down the line.

Love is a franchise guy, and if you’re not getting one back in return I would not do the deal unless it was really looking like he wouldn’t sign.
