JoeWolf1This is my last real mock before the draft and I found the comments section for the first time. Let me know what you think.

Chilbert arenasParticipantNot saying you’re wrong but Washington would be foolish to take Noel.
*Reggie Jackson, not Reggie Williams in OKC but I got the point
That Davis picture does look like Drake.
And I kinda like the idea of Bazz to Utah for some reason.

Seamo15ParticipantI like it. Certainly agree that Len going number 1 means Charlotte will go with Zeller. Not much i can critique seeing as how year is a complete mix bag. Nice job

ReactionParticipantOne comment from a Pistons fan and knowing many other Pistons fans.. there would be quite an uproar in Detroit if the Pistons pass on Burke for MCW. I understand your reasoning though so +1. I honestly don’t think Dumars will have the “balls” to pass on Burke.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIf Aran Smith’s most recent mock draft had come out a month ago with someone elses name on it other than his on it, it would’ve been ridiculed beyond belief. That being said I don’t bother to make one only because it fluctuates so much for 2 months like the oil prices.
A month ago I would’ve been pissed if the Timberwolves would’ve selected Len but now they wouldn’t even have the assets to make a trade to get him.
Mocks can be entertaining but instead of trying to understand what a poster’s thinking process was the others immediately criticize the the other person’s oppinions weeks to months before the draft has even happened.I think there needs to be an option on this website where a person can go back and give themselves negative feedback or go back and correct negative feedback they have given out based on how their oppinion plays out.

Sharp ShooterParticipantIma die hard pistons fan as well, and but i will have to disagree, I would like the pistons to take MCW due to the fact that him and Drummond were teammates before and they know each other type of game. Don’t get me wrong, I do like trey burke but I think we can do better, and we should not just pick him because he’s a “Michigan made”.

FutureNBAGMParticipantAnother thing to keep in mind is pick value. Dumars talked last year about the fact that, at #9, Drummonds value was too good to pass up. If Burke falls to us at #8, it would be the same situation. Plus, I just think Burkes a better overall player. That being said, if somehow Oladipo miraculously fell to us, Id gladly settle for him too.

SkipHippoParticipantPlus there are questions whether the light fingered MCW can really play the point full time. Brandon Triche was given most of the ball handling and point responsibilities on Cuse except for in a couple games. If MCW has to end up moving to point there’s really not that much special about the light fingered one. He would actually be pretty frail and weak at shooting guard.

FutureNBAGMParticipantJust because he got lots of technicals and didnt know how to calm down sometimes doesnt mean he had character issues. Character issues are guys like Jordan Crawford and Demarcus Cousins, the latter of whom may wanna consider drinking gatorade from a baby bottle next year.

Detroit FanaddictParticipantI think Joe Dumars’s mindset changed after a while of dealing with the disfunctional post championship Pistons roster. He’s said multiple times he’s aming for high character guys, but i’m not sure he’ll judge MCW off that insident alone. He’ll examine the whole picture. Personally if he passed on Trey Burke, i’d kill him!! lol.

JoeWolf1What about new head coach Mo Cheeks? A playmaker with good defensive ability might seem like a guy Mo could view as a mentee and again, I think that pick would be viewed as less of a threat to Knight. He’s also definately in the mix after being brought in to workout yesterday. I appreciate your feedback as a Pistons’ fan, I think it’s good to hear fan perspectives too.

B-ball fanParticipantDieng falling to 33? I wonder what would cause his stock to fall that far. In my opinion, he should go late lottery, so I don’t really see what is holding back his stock.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/20/2013 - 2:57am #801198

JoeWolf1I have him there for now because I’ve literally read nothing about teams being that interested him and nothing about his injury progress. Other guys like Noel, Len, Franklin, Bennett and others have leaked their injury progress. The fact that Dieng hasn’t makes me wonder if it’s one of those injuries that could cause him to drop a lot on draft day. Just relating past draft trends with his situation…he could be back in the 1st by next week, but for now I have him dropping.

jtcluegiverParticipantIt’s Kyrie, not Kyree. Get with the program
I like Noel going #2 if he doesn’t go #1. Pairing Noel with Vucevic would be very, very intriguing. They could hold onto Afflalo in that scenario too.
I get that Portland wants more shooting, but do they really want another scoring guard? Ideally, I think they want the shooting from a wing and should be targeting KCP (don’t think he’ll be left), but I’d go big here and take Adams. They need to get help inside, defensively and rebounding-wise, and Adams will do both.
If Dallas is going to stash a foreigner at 13, it better be Giannis. Highest ceiling of all the foreign guys by far. The Bebe hype has gone too far.
Don’t understand Schroeder to Celtics. They have Rondo…they need shooting and scorers.
Can’t see Jamal Franklin getting past the Bulls. He is a near perfect fit there. His shooting will improve vastly and he will be an incredible role player. I hope the Cavs can get him at 19 (Cavs fan here)
Obligatory white guy to Pacers with Olynyk – nice
Overall, well done. There is a lot to like about this draft.

AmiableBaller34ParticipantWell for starters Nene isn’t in his mid 30’s, but actually just turned thirty this year. While I think the Wizards would definitely select Noel, as you mentioned they might be fighting for a playoff spot, and might want a player who could play right away and be effective. That’s why I don’t see porter slipping past them.
I also have to disagree with MCW going to the Pistons. They need shooters and play-makers badly (especially because of their bigs), and Trey might be the only player in the draft who can do both exceptionally. I would be shocked if Detroit passed on him, even if I would love for him to go to OKC.
Overall a decent mock, and you made some good points like your reasoning for the Magic to draft a SG, and why CHA might pick Zeller. Both great observations

JoeWolf1Haha, guess you’re right. He seems like it though, he’s got 10 years under his belt and hasn’t played in more than 70 games since 2010-2011. My thought remains that if Washington really hopes to build a team that is in the playoffs year after year then grabbing a big man who was once thought as the 1st pick might be too much to pass up. Okafor and Seraphin are out after next season, and Noel would be cheaper than resigning one or both of those guys. Also being a guy who is a few years from being a major minute player, he could be ready to step right in as Nene continues to decline.

aztwulfParticipantI think you nailed it with KCP at 9.
I would have put Bullock at 26 just to get another shooter. If you were going to go big at 26 I might have put in Muscala (local kid, rotational big), Withey or Dieng, all of whom I think are more ready to play. I think Flip (and Glen, of course) want to accelerate the process of winning in order to keep Love. Selecting a big who won’t play for a few years seems like a poor fit.
Mbakwe in the second was a good catch by you. Local kid, already in for two workouts, and with you picking a C at 26, it gives you a PF who could possibly make the team.
Then a eurostash with the final pick, as there aren’t enough roster spots to add more than 2, maybe 3, rooks.
Nice mock. I enjoyed reading it.

Sewok15ParticipantAs I expected it is a solid Mock in my opinion. I didn’t think Porter had a chance to fall out of the top 5 a few weeks ago but if things go down similarly to your mock it is a real possibility. Burke falling that far would be more surprising to me because he appears to be the most NBA ready PG.
The only thing I didn’t like was the part where you called my boy Wayne Ellington a fringe player. Once he was traded to Cleveland it seemed as if they really liked him. He actually averaged over 10 points a game for them. He even started 17 games when Waiters was dealing with that knee injury. 8 out of 12 games in February right after being acquired he scored in double figures. In March he had two 20 point games and two 16 point games as well. He even shot a higher 3 point percentage than Kyrie Irving over the whole season. He is one of the more consistent shooters off the bench in the league but that has gone under the radar because he was on teams that hardly were ever on TV.
I used to play summer league with him so that is the reason I felt the need to defend him but he is an underrated player (and a great guy) and I think he will be a player that eventually does get some love if he stays in Cleveland and they become a playoff caliber team like most people expect over the next few years.

IndianaBasketballParticipantVery good mock and comments.
I never thought I’d see Trey Burke fall this low, but with the way things are looking… It’s possible.

JoeWolf1Thanks, man
I know, it’s so wild he was looked at as a major possibility at #2 a month and a half ago.

kaceyParticipantMock looks good.
E.J. Singler would definitely be a surprise pick in the second round. He has worked out for plenty of teams, but I feel he is just getting looks as a summer league roster fill in. His second audition for the Blazers could have been due to a cancellation of another player and they just needed another body…call the local kid.
From what I have seen in the past, the local borderline NBA draft kids will occasionally have two workouts with a local team and I would guarantee this is due to a guy not being able to make the group workout.
