I’m thinking someone at the small forward position that can (eventually)replace Rashard Lewis. If I’m Washington, I’m targeting either Jan Vesely or Kawhi Leonard. Where do YOU think they should go with that pick?

I agree, a small forward is most needed even if Josh Howard said he wants to stay. Jan Vesely is not the perfect match but it’s a very good match, he would offers something quite unique, when I image the starting five with McGee, Blatche and Vesely, this is impressive, three very tall, long and athletic guys. If they manage to bring back Nick Young to hit the 3s, it will be quite a bad defensive team but it will be difficult for opponents to find empty space inside.

Here’s the thing though with Jan Vesely, Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morris, Chris Singleton, Tobias Harris, Jordan Hamilton, Tyler Honeycutt, they are practically guaranteed a quality SF with the 18th pick. IMO in all seriousness because of the weakness of the draft and Nick Young being a RFA, I think at #6 Burks, and even Thompson or Brooks could get consideration. Most likely though at 6 I think Biyombo or Jonas are big possibilities as Grunfield has loved drafting international big men, even Donatas could get consideration at 6 as the Wizards love stretch 4’s and Yi is a free agent and they are unhappy with the effort of Blatche.

@ghettosermon You know I was thinking the exact same thing at first(actually had Alec Burks at #6 on my mock draft for a long time). However, did you see what SG Jordan Crawford did for them this year after coming over from Atlanta? He avgd 16ppg after he came over as a rookie. So even if Young leaves, they still have Crawford as a very capable 2-gaurd to play alongside John Wall in the backcourt. Make sense?

Obviously as a Hawks fan I still root for J-Crawford and am ticked we traded him, but he is better suited as a 6th man. He’s not an efficient scorer and you don’t want a small defensive lineup with him and Wall consistently.

@ghettosermon Yeah thats true. But I also think they’re(Wizards) really solid everywhere else. I really like JaVale McGee as their starting center, and Blatche played well last year too. Not to mention they still have Trevor Booker and Kevin Seraphin, two other rookie bigs from last year to shore up that frontline. Sooooo…….the only other option I can see(perhaps) is Washington taking a 2-gaurd(ie; Burks) at #6 and a small forward(ie; Jordan Hamilton, Chris Singleton, Tyler Honeycutt) at #18. That might work too. Btw, cheer up! 🙂 At least you got the GOOD team in the Hawks(unlike my current Pistons lol)

Looking at the Wizards, you would think they go SF here. However, as a Wizards fan, I’ve been less than impressed with their rebounding efforts. Leonard is a great rebounder for his position, but the Wiz need an inside presence too. Blatche and McGee just are not dominant enough in the paint and neither are great on defense either. It might be a reach to take Thompson at 6, but he would bring a low-post game and defensive presence that the Wizards need. Plus, as has been mentioned, there are a lot of good SFs left available by the Wizards’ next pick. Also, there’s a chance Nick Young could leave in the offseason, so Alec Burks should get some consideration as well. Jordan Crawford played well this year, but Burks would be a significant upgrade.
