Hah… the man who once stated that Blake Griffin is "The American Jan Vesely" is quickly re-capturing the attention of GM’s around the league. Career NBA averages of 3.7pts, 3.5rebs, 0.6assists, and a 40.7%ft clearly revealed he was more Don Reid than Blake Griffin.

Per the ‘Sportando’ news source and rotoworld.com: Almost every NBA team is impressed with Vesely’s excellent play during the Eurobasket, and they want to bring him back to the United States. He’s currently under contract with Fenerbahce for next year.

Through five games during the tournament, Vesely has accumulated averages of 16.2pts, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.0 blks on 57% shooting. Pretty impressive.

How crazy would it be if Vesely came back to the league in 2016-17 and just mashed on people? Lol

Trust me mate, Vesely is a top-5 pf for Europe, could average serious minutes in any nba rotation as a 5th big option, and is a very solid player indeed. But he ain’t no blake Griffin. The whole hype thing back then was about him being 6’11 and 200 lbs and being able to dunk on a basket that was like, on the third floor of a building. Years went by, he added bulk, lost some inches of his still huge vertical, kept his aggressiveness and started learning the basic fundamentals of the game later than most do. End of story.

Still, he can come to the league and make a good impression, just not as the athletic raw freak he once was. More like an athletic pf with a good drive and fast legs. His numbers during the current eurobasket tell you half the truth, Czech was in the weakest group by far, he faced teams like Estonia, Latvia and Belgium. Anyway, if any team wants him, good luck talking with Obradovic lol

Oh and Vesely’s highlight during his whole stay in the states came on draft night.. Those who watched know what I’m talking about lol

If you say Vesely is Top 5 in Europe, probably you don’t watch a lot of european basketball

I disagree. Maybe he’s been top 5 for this particular tournament, that doesn’t make him a Top 5 PF in Europe.

Vesely feels like a player who could have a revival in Atlanta, San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, Boston or Golden State.

One of those teams with creative, unorthodox coaches that know how to make odd pieces fit and won’t expect too much of him.

What’s interesting from what I saw is that he’s playing center on a team that plays pretty fast, and that’s perfectly suited for him. He improved in the post,he improved on his touch as well. He’s still a bad free throw shooter though.

+1 for the Don Reid comparison. I thought I was the only one who remembered him!

Real talk I thought he was gonna be a beast in the NBA with John Wall when the Wizards drafted him. That turned out DEAD WRONG.

Vesley was so terrible for my Wizards that he’ll never be forgiven by me. Still is claim to fame is kissing his smoking hot girlfriend on draft night, but the guy was awful in the NBA. If I was an NBA GM, I would stay far away from this guy

vesely is absolutely a nba player..he’s a freak of nature that can make plays in both ends of the floor that very few players in this planet can..his problem is his mind, he doesn’t have much confidence but he’s gaining some confidence back playing in europe.

man if you guys had seen this guy play in kk partizan with 20 years old..he was chosen with the nº6 in the draft for a reason but..again his mind..it’s a pitty because i think he could have been a bigger and more athletic version of kirilenko..

i still think he’ll go back to the nba and be not only usefull but a fan favorite..

if ilyasova has had a productive come back to the nba, vesely can too..

I think his lack of confidence makes him NOT an NBA player.  He played scared, like he thought he didn’t belong.  Europe is more his comfort zone IMO.  He should stay there and be an excellent player as opposed to be being a soft, nervous ninny back up big in the NBA.

He didn’t play too badly when he was in Denver.  He was a running center off the bench for a below average team, he dunked and defended and rebounded.  Could be a third center for plenty of NBA teams, his stats in Europe last year were good, except for free throws.

Too early to predict which team would want him, but most need center depth and with the cap going up there will be teams happy to add him, except for Washington as they don’t want that reminder although it would be fun if they did bring him back as he could run with a unit of Wall, Beal, Oubre, Porter when Wizards go smaller with Gortat having a rest on the bench.

He’s always had much more confidence playing in Europe than in the NBA. He could have a role in the NBA as a high energy big off the bench but why would he do that when he could be a major contributor in Europe and is much more comfortable there?
