People are finally starting to get on the 2010 Draft bandwagon as potentially one of the deepest of the last 10 to 15 years. I’ve been saying that since late December. It doesn’t have any SUREFIRE Hall of Fame level players besides maybe Wall, but who knows with this kind of talent. I call it the “Starter” Draft because it’s gonna be loaded with impact players although not dominant players. With that said, the 2011 Draft is looking TERRIBLE. This will be the first time a debate will happen about whether there are any true “one and dones”. Sure Barnes and Knight are gonna be good players, but they are no where near the class of Rose, Wall, Durant, Evans, etc. If Ed Davis comes back, he will be the best big man available next year if he doesn’t improve a bit from this year! There will probably be good prospects this year that will get horrible advice to come back next year, namely Singler, Hayward, to some extent Davis, etc. When I look at 2011, I see 2001 or even 2002 if Davis, Hayward and/or Singler decide to declare early. I know there will be fans of lottery teams that will want to fight me on this, but it’s the truth.

I say 2001 has probably been tha weakest draft n tha 10 years that draft was filled wif mostly role players but that also helped tha playoff teams but it didn’t help if u where drafting n tha lottery, I dnt think 2011 is going to b as bad as u think ..

C’mon, they said the 2009 draft could be the worst since the 2000 draft, it turned out to be maybe the best PG draft ever and had plenty of 2nd round steals.
    Lets just wait.

    2009

if you wanted a point guard , you got one, Eric Maynor=sleeper smh

    HOWEVER
if you wanted a game changing guard-forward
    a Lebron, a Durant, a Carmelo, a Granger,

if you wanted a big athletic big man to solidify your defense
an Oden, heck even a Horford, you were dissapointed” (BJ Mullens)

this draft has some potential but not MVP caliber type players that can lead their team to a playoff spot

outside of John Wall, and that’s only if he lands on a near playoff-caliber team like Jennings

he could easily wind up on a bottom-dweller and have no “immediate” affect in the wins column (see Evans, Holiday, Curry)

2009 was fine for teams who wanted a decent starting point guard. Maybe Brandon Jennings, Stephen Curry and (a big stretch) Jrue Holiday can develop into more than that. But right now, Tyreke Evans is the only player who has proven to be more than a role player.

Still, you’re right in that 2011 will be a really horrible draft. There’s just not much NBA talent coming in next year, and many project a mass exodus from the college game after this season — basically, if you can get picked, go because you don’t know what the NBA rookie contracts willbe in the future.

Jrue Holiday was expected to replace Andre Miller, instead of a distributor like Miller/Iguodala

I think his upside is Chauncey Billups

Holiday’s measurements are similar to Billups albeit less weight

I think that’s his upside, who knows how long it’ll take for him to reach that, 76ers might be blown up by then….

I hate to say this but from the film of Perry Jones if he is a 75% T-Mac he is a bonafied supastar or at worst Rashad Lewis with handles. The draft is not loaded at all…but the NBA needed a break. There is to many players and most of the young talent is not getting a chance. This should be the year they dont gaurentee first round pics to allow for some room or expand the D-League Salary. I think the league is over crowded…..NEXT YEAR WILL BE A GREAT YEAR FOR DWAYNE WADERS players that dont go to big schools but will get more notice due to the lack of talent in the big conferences..But wait and see all it takes is one summer and you will some big changes in players…

I want to the next Horace Jenkins…….

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn’t belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
    Then you’re absolutely…right!

The reason why the 2011 draft doesn’t look so well is because most prospects aren’t even mentioned as possible first round and lottery picks for next year’s draft. Players with star potential. C.J. Leslie, Josh Selby, Tristan Thompson, Tobias Harris are just a few guys to name that have star potential that aren’t even mentioned in next year’s draft. Next year’s draft will be just fine. You can’t be quick to judge the talent in next year’s draft. Just wait till 2011 comes and we’ll see.

2011 could be a good draft just wait and see how alot of the freshmen do in college. There are lots of good high school seniors that could surprise people like Will Barton, Josh Selby, Joe Jackson, CJ Leslie, Jared Sullinger, Tobias Harris, Ryan Harrow, and etc… Also there are alot of returning guys that could be pretty good depending on who stays this year. So just wait til next year when we see how everyone does before you call it a bad draft.

Was getting as much acclaim as Perry Jones…Lebron James is the only one out of the group who everyone new was going to be a super talent. Perry Jones 6’10 with great handles and mediocore explosiveness at his size. I am sorrry but you just disrespected yourself….He is a bonafied super star if it all pans out… That is of course if you dont think that Kevin durant is not a supastar.

“He is a bonafide super star if it all pans out.”

    Jonathan Bender or Josh Smith

if you say so, his game isnt rooted in the fundamentals

is he going to be a point-forward
    a shooting-guard forward
    or a post-up small forward

he has potential but how long will it take to translate to making fundamental basketball

    plays?

I think this new generation of basketball players is going to be all athleticism or flash, less fundamentals or all fundamentals no athleticism/flash

either or , I don’t see anyone with both, just potential besides…

    15ppg?!

One thing people aren’t talking about for the 2011 draft is that a lot of prospects who could declare probably won’t due to the lockout. Harrison Barnes probably won’t declare (Wants to stay in school, lockout reduces want to go to NBA), most of the European prospects won’t declare (Already getting paid), Kentucky’s prospects won’t declare (Already getting paid), etc. This will likely make the draft even worse.

i doubt there will be a lockout and any changes in the collective bargaining agreement shouldn’t have any impact on rookies or what they get paid.

You cannot judge a draft a year away.

Let’s wait until after we see who comes back…

actually if you look at other mock drafts those guys are mentioned innext years draft. and people said this past draft was suppossed to be one of the weakest. basically no one knows because no one knows how the players are gonna perform

I think people say every year that the next year’s draft is the weakest draft in years, mainly cuz the lotto is comprised of high school Seniors or players that are projected to have a breakout year the next year. Once we see superstars breaking out of the current high school Senior class and underclassmen, we won’t be surprised if the draft turns out to be a strong one.

But I do agree, just looking at it now it seems like a weak draft

2011 is a weak draft? Really? Have you watched ALL of the high school seniors in the country? I haven’t and that’s why I’m not saying anything.

Too early to call. There’s always someone or a couple people who come out of no where and emerge as legitimate prospects. And another thing is you can’t discount is just the natural improvement of players in college, freshman become better as sophomores, sophomores as juniors etc… Also, this notion that these freshman are just gonna come in and be lottery picks is comical. Let me see what these guys do on the collegiate level first. Also, there’s only 30 spots in the first round, every mcdonald all american isn’t going to be drafted in 2011 ok. And if a couple people stay in school who’s expected to come out this year don’t declare, that’ll only enhance that draft pool next year. Everyone thought this ’09 draft was the worst ever and was top heavy. But after one year, many teams are happy with their selections as this rookie class is doing extremely well. So its always a wait and see approach when judging the quality of a draft.
