Knicksboy34ParticipantI got this from another post. The Person said John Wall will be the greatest PG ever and said he is a Point Guard version of Lebron James…what do you think?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:44am #190944
McWinningParticipantim thinking more of an All-Star but i just dont think hell be the best pg ever.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:50am #190946

R-Dot-13Participanti dont think so, not even the best pg in the league IMO
he will be an all-star though.0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:51am #190948
shaq2355ParticipantHe will be good but he does not have the best decision making to make him the best PG ever… Thats a big statement that I don’t think he will live up to… I personally don’t think he will have a better career than derrick rose
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:53am #190949

Knicksboy34ParticipantI dont think he would be on Rondo’s level to be honest. I saw this and i wondered what other people thought
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:54am #190951

crazyknicksfanParticipanthe’ll neva be better than cousy, frazier, magic, and more pg’s (i cant think of more now even though theirs alot more im missing)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:56am #190952

R-Dot-13Participantwho said he would be the best pg ever?
i agree that he isnt on rondos level, or CP3, Westbrook, Rose
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 3:59am #190954
McWinningParticipanti think hell be as least as good as Rondo. Rondo i think wouldnt be nearly as good if he was on a team where he was being focused on by the defense, but on the Celtics the defense is focusing on the big three.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:07am #190956

Knicksboy34ParticipantMikenike said it. He did say IMO. But to call a HS guy the best.
I mean, even MJ got cut his junior year of HS….he turned out to be he greatest
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:08am #190957
shaq2355ParticipantRondo is good but not special…J Wall could be special… Best PG ever, is not happening but he will be a multi-year all star…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:09am #190958

JNixonParticipantI think he will be better than Westbrook, but I dont know about best ever. He might not even be better than Rose or CP3 He has to prove he can shoot open shots when teams go underneath the pick and roll.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:13am #190961

R-Dot-13Participantmaybe i had a bias opinion there cause i think westbrook will be better than rose.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:16am #190964

Lemons4LifeParticipantRight now no way he’s gonna be the best. The only thing is to WAIT & SEE.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:19am #190965

jerb2011ParticipantWAY too early to tell, he has loads of potential, but Im not sure we can go off making outladish statements like that, and he wont be the PG version of Lebron James
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:34am #190971
cprizz15Participantits too early to say he would be the best ever, how are you gonna say he’s not gonna be better than rajon rondo.. dont get me wrong i love rondo, but he landed in a dream situation for any point guard. i think he could really be just as good if not better than derrick rose
next year will be a big tell tale sign.. just wait until he kills it
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:38am #190975

Knicksboy34ParticipantI dont think he would be better then Rose. So What, Rondo is a jumper away from being the best PG in the east.
KG got hurt he goes and averages a trip-doub! Come on….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:43am #190979
ItaliantarheelParticipanti would have to see him bring it more on the defensive end before i could make a claim like that i mean the greatest would atleast would have to be able to hold his own on that end and as far as the point guard version of lebron i am pretty sure lebron could be his on point guard version of himself if he wanted to be
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:46am #190980
doubledribblerParticipantHe actually didn’t make the varsity team during his sophomore year. All that meant is that he played JV. Most sophomores don’t make Varsity unless their team isn’t that good.
By the way, isn’t Wall going to be about a year older than everyone in his class?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:49am #190982

JNixonParticipantDont hold your breath on that jumper coming anytime soon. Saying he’s a jumper away is making it sound easy. We’ve been saying that for 3 years, and I dont see him getting one.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 4:54am #190984

Knicksboy34Participant3 years yea but he is still young…he can improve.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:03am #190987

JNixonParticipantYea he is. I believe Wall will be 19 when the season starts.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:35am #190995
Michael.S.Participantsome of u have the right idea YES WAIT N SEE , just watch
every1 has their opinions, but my opinion is John Wall is real, and he is under-hyped right now ….. yes under-hyped

Knicksboy34Participantsome of u have the right idea YES WAIT N SEE , just watch
Didn’t I say that???!?!!?!?!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:40am #190998
Michael.S.Participantyes u did and i bought into it , JUST WATCH
the only difference is u said just wait and see Jennings will be better than Wall as well as basically all the other decent PG”s in the NBA0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:41am #191000

Knicksboy34ParticipantBut if Wall is not the Greatest PG of all-time…your gonna admit you were wrong?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:43am #191002

JoeWolf1Those of you who said he needs to add a jumper are right, i point guard who can slash as a great athlete, create contact and dish a little bit at his level are going to be top college players, he won’t need much of an outside shot his freshman year at UK, but to be the best ever he will need a shot and dedicate himself to becoming a student of the game like all the greats in any position, so in my opinion it depends on how long he wants to rely on his athleticism and talent and if he wants to take it to the next level as a student of the game and perfect his craft, he has the athletic gifts to do so, and be a good pro already, but to be the greatest its a mental thing
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:44am #191003
Michael.S.Participantyeah, i will always keep my word ummm and when he is just know i predicted it
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:45am #191005

sameolGParticipantHe just entered college, we need to know if he’s gonna be a bust before we ask if he has potential to be the best pg ever… lol let him play a game first
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:46am #191006

Knicksboy34ParticipantJohn Wall weaknesses are
-Lazy on D
-Jumpshot
-Turnover prone
-Not the greatest inside the paint unless he is dunking0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:47am #191007
McWinningParticipanti agree let him play and then talk. personnaly i think hell be an All-Star but he could turn out horribly.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 5:50am #191008
Michael.S.ParticipantKnicksboy
John Wall weaknesses are-Lazy on D ( sometimes like every other young kid )
-Jumpshot ( his mechanics are ok for start if he can add more elevation and reptition he will be ok , it’s not great now though )
-Turnover prone ( every young, flashy PG basically )
-Not the greatest inside the paint unless he is dunking ( disagree )0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:02am #191012

Knicksboy34ParticipantListen, I said all of that before.
-Lazy on D. Not all young players are lazy on D.
-Jumpshot. Thats the difference between superstar and G.O.A.T ( like you believe he will be)
-Turnover prone. He is Very Turnover Prone. Like it’s on the verge of being terrible.
-Issues in the paint. You may disagree when you saw all the higlight tapes…he missed some easy layups and bad floaters
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:06am #191013
Michael.S.Participantif i remember correctly Johnson and Oscar are viewed but many as the greatest pg’s of all time and Magic’s jumper was a far cry away from great and Oscar had terrible mechanics and couldn’t get his jumper off unless he has alot of room
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:11am #191014

Knicksboy34ParticipantMagic Johnson was 6-9….he could pound in most PG’s. Oscar Robertson was also fast in his day, he would often shoot off the glass.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:17am #191018
ckowalskiParticipantRose’s and Rondo’s jumpshots are nothing to write home about either, but here we are still putting Rose and Rondo in the discussion for all star PGs. I think Wall will be a good NBA player, not the GOAT but a good player. His defense will improve and so will his A/T rate. Rose is not going to lock anyone down either but he is hands down the fastest with the ball from baseline to baseline and he has great court vision. Calipari will mold Wall in the same way he did Rose and he will turn out fine.
And Knicksboy I think Jennings will be better than Wall also, but I think he should have went to college.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:19am #191020

Knicksboy34ParticipantIf Brandon Jennings went to Arizona…he would have been the 4th pick in this year’s draft.
0- Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:52am #191094

MkadozaParticipant2nd Pick in the Draft. He’s a beast and his game would have been perfect for the college game, but he may have ended up a worse player. I think his time in Europe will make him a better pro.

- Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:22am #191022
ckowalskiParticipantYea I think he gave up a s*** ton of money by going overseas
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:25am #191023

JoeWolf1A lot of point guards weren’t great jump shooters, but i don’t think Wall has the playmaking abilities of Magic or any other top notch point guard. Right now i think the Rondo and Rose comparisons are really accurate. If being a sub par shooter at point guard is ok, then he desperately needs to improve his playmaking ability. His game doesn’t lend itself to him averaging 10 + assists per, like some great pgs who didn’t have the best jumpers, so if he doesn’t need to be a great shooter, then he sure as hell needs to improve is passing and abilities in running an offense
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:25am #191024

Knicksboy34ParticipantPeople will give me negative points for this
Brandon Jennings will be better Career wise than John Wall. Wall has good upside but Jennings was the man who whipped Wall. Jennings will be a multi-time all-star and maybe a top PG in the NBA
People forget…more people began to like Jennings over Rubio near the end of the draft.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:33am #191029

R-Dot-13Participanti gave you a point because i agree with your statement.
Jennings is my pick for ROY
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:40am #191031

JNixonParticipantJohn Wall just needs to get to the point were he can knock down open jumpers. He doesnt need to be able to make ridiculous shots, just hit the open ones ala Stockton and Jason Kidd. He has everything else he needs. He isnt very strong right now, but he has a frame that should allow him to put on 15-20 lbs easily, without a loss of any athleticism (cant say that about Jennings, Rose, Westbrook and Rondo) so thats not a true issue for now. I dont think he will be a great finisher now, but soon I could see it coming when he develops more. I dont know how many of you guys have ACTUALLY watched him play, but he will get in your shirt on D when he on to it and you have to like his defensive potential. Calipari will keep him intense and motivated so that not a real issue either. He is a dribble drive player, and Calipari runs a dribble drive offense where the floor is kinda spread out so he should be able to drive the lane/and or find the open man. I think he will lead Kentucky to the Final Four, this Kentucky system is like a match made in heaven for him and he will be a HUGE success..
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 6:44am #191034

Knicksboy34ParticipantI seen him play alot of games. Your right He does get in your shirt but he needs to learn not to because no hand checking in the NBA. Also, he lacks on D sometimes.
I think he still needs to improve his jumper and stuff and I wanna see how he is against better opponents. His jumper just looks bad but he doesn’t make it alot. He is not the biggest rebounder.
Iguodala…what if he never gets to that point where he hits the open jumper….

ball4life66Participantno
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:15am #191052

Toronto16ParticipantI mean to catch Magic Johnson will not be easy. But he certainly has the talent to do so.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:16am #191054

JNixonParticipantIf he doesnt then he will be a spectacular player anyway, because of his slashing and playmaking ability. I dont think he will be the best ever, but I do think he will be an all-nba level player. The open jumpers would make teams have to respect him, and keep them off guard. But his athleticism is so good that it will be hard to contain him even without a jumper.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:19am #191059

Knicksboy34ParticipantI dunno. I dont think he will be better then Rose, Paul, Rondo, Williams and Jennings man…

MallStax5Participantyall are talkn about this.
the kid is about to be just a freshmen in college.
i dont care who he is lets see where he is at in 10 years
he has to produce beterr than so many historic nba point guards.kidd
cousy
magic

pistol pete
cp3
parkerman ima stop right there.
if anything i see him as a devin harris0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:36am #191071

Pierre JordanParticipantHe’ll probably be good, maybe great…. but best EVER?!?!?!? People may not like him because they mistake confidence for arrogance, but Brandon Jennings will win ROY and be one of the best point gaurds for many years. Trust me, its something about his game, he gets it. And contrary to popular belief he CAN shoot.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:38am #191066

JNixonParticipantHe definitely has a chance. He will be all-nba if he hits his open jumpers, I know that for a fact.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:40am #191075

knicksfreakParticipantMagic was a freak of nature. There will never be another 6’9″ point guard ever again. You cant compare him to most PG’s. Nobody can say that Wall will be the top PG ever but I predict he will be a player on the level of Wade. He and Rose may go down as the most athletic PG’s ever. I just think his mindset can propel him to more greatness than Rose. Baron Davis is the only PG I can think of that cou compare to them athletically. Before he hurt his knee that is.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:42am #191077

R-Dot-13Participantnot another 6’9″ pg again?
well, sun yue, but he’s no magic johnson.
Magic was great, and no way wall will be better than him0- Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:05am #191111
redbaboonParticipanthe looks good, and will help out a team alot, but he has 0.00% chance of being the best of all time.

MkadozaParticipantLebron James 2010 for the Knicks. he’ll be the 6’9 PG with Joe Johnson and Wilson Chandler.

R-Dot-13Participantsorry double post
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:44am #191082

Pierre JordanParticipantRose and Jennings are more athletic than that guy, he looks like he has a good wingspan though. Bayless is more athletic than him too. He MIGHT be on par with Russell Westbrook in terms on athletic ability.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:48am #191090

Knicksboy34ParticipantHe will be all-nba if he hits his open jumpers, I know that for a fact.
Come on now….Like I said before, Too many PG’s in their prime when he enters the NBA
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:54am #191100

JNixonParticipantHe might not get a consistent spot up when he 1st gets into the League and everyone is in their prime, he might get it when CP3 and Deron Williams are over the hill. I dont think he will get one immediately, but IF he does you and bank that he will be an all-nba performer.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:56am #191104

Knicksboy34ParticipantI disagree. Once Paul and Williams are done….Rondo and Rose and Jennings will be battling it out. Wall may be 2nd all-NBA
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 7:56am #191105

knicksfreakParticipantLebron wont play the point.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:49am #191178

Im Your FatherParticipantI feel like he is vastly overrated by people on here. Knicksboy you said he would takeover along with Rose and Jennings after CP3 and Dwill are over the hill, you do realize that he is only 2 years younger than both those point guards. People say “if he had a jumpshot” he doesn’t have a jumpshot and it doesn’t appear that he will develop one in the near future. I don’t think he is bad, but I just don’t see him as a top tier point guard in the NBA.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:53am #191183

Knicksboy34Participant32 is different then 30 bro. He can still be a good PG at 30 and what-not. He can be a all-NBA guy at 30 and Paul and Williams can be All-NBA guys when they regress…Kidd and Nash were.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 9:24am #191217
Bfresh2DeathParticipanti thinks its pointless to dispute who or anybody will be the greatest players at all in any position at any given time period with every one lapping over having impact on the next you are going to have your hallmark players who have a tremendous impact on the game and about every ten years you truly see a revolutionary player ala wilt kareem shaq elgin baylor oscar robertson Julius Irving Michael Jordan and Lebron James basketball gets better every year because you have athletes competing to be the best player possible and the ones with the most determination best attitude always rise to the top. Leaving the “talented players” in thier wake and becoming the legends that we all love to watch in the present and in the past. Saying john wall will be the greatest pg ever is simply lame when the kid hasnt accomplished anything in regards to a college career or professional level.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 9:31am #191226
bluedevils12Participantpeople are really getting carried away with this jon wall hype!! best point ever? give me a break. he may not even be better than rose or cp3 when its all said and done
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 10:52am #191298

Im Your FatherParticipantI understand where you are coming from and that you can be at at totally different place in your career at 32 than at 30, but I guess I don’t see Rondo as one of these new age point guards like Jennings, Rose and Wall. I would put him with the Paul, Williams, Felton class, not in terms of talent, but in terms of age.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 11:28am #191312
nthegoodlifeParticipantIs he really a true 6’4? If so, he seems incredibly athletic for a guy with his size (great wing span too). If he is willing to work hard and not get derailed by all the bs, then it is definitely possible for him to become an all time great. Many of these kids have the talent, but will they put the time in to do so.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 12:00pm #191323

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantHe hasn’t even played a college game yet and people are labeling him best pg ever? Ridiculous.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/28/2009 - 7:15am #191795
ghostfaceParticipantBest PG ever? No way. I can’t see him being as good as Isiah or John Stockton. Both of these guys had better all around games than Wall does. I also can’t see him being as good as Chris Paul, Derron Williams, Rondo, or Rose because they are more pass first point guards. I can see him being a being Tony Parker type player, who also is not a great shooter but can score a lot driving to the basket.
