AKtheLawParticipantI’m certainly not a Duke fan but even I have to concede that on paper, they are heading into the next College season as the frontfrunner to win the NCAA Championship. I think it helps when they are lead by three players who could potentially go 1-2-3 in the NBA Draft next year.
Of course a lot can and probably will happen between now and the 2019 Draft but does anyone foresee Duke making NBA Draft if not Pro Sports Draft history? I imagine it’s more probable if they win the championship but especially if Fernando stays in the 2018 Draft (and I think he’d be a lottery pick if he did), I would be curious to see if anybody else could force themselves into top 3 consideration.
Otherwise I look at Barrett, Reddish and Williamson as the basketball equivalent of the original NWO; Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Now if Duke could implode like the NWO did, I’d be all for that but I don’t imagine that happening. Though I think anything less than a championship would be considered a failure even if it didn’t effect Duke’s top 3’s draft stock.
So what does everybody else think? Will Duke basically own the first 10 minutes of next year’s draft?

Lotto StudParticipantNo chance at all, and I will bet my bottom dollar that Nassir Little will jump ahead of one or two of those guys.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantYeah I think Nassir or Quentin Grimes jumps into the top 3

BasterdInABasketParticipantZion. A lot of talent in this draft don’t see him top 3. Lottery likely based on athleticism and potential alone but not sure he’ll be quite top pick level, think he gets exposed some as a freshman

TarHeelRavenParticipantI think people should pump the brakes on saying Duke is the front-runner for the national title. Duke has also been preseason national champions the last 2 years and has not even made the final four. In terms of sending guys to the NBA as of recently, yes Coach K is the new Calipari. I wish people would cut it out with calling Duke the favorites every single year when they haven’t even won an outright regular season ACC title in over a decade or even made a final four the last couple seasons with all that NBA talent.

HitsterParticipantAs the draft is still 14 months nearly away, I’d say we are very much playing guesswork. But I’d see Barrett as likely top at this moment and think he’ll likely go top 3. Reddish I think has top 3 potential and will likely go top 5. Zion is the interesting one as he is undersized for a PF but his strength will be of interest to a lot of teams. I don’t quite see him as a top 3 but think he’ll go well inside top 10.
Bruno Fernando seems to be very highly rated and is 2nd in the 2019 mocks so people must be hoping he’ll have a big Sophomore season. If he’d been in the 2018 draft, I’d have said he’d be in 8 to 12 range.

Jr. ROXASParticipantI feel Romeo Langford can crack the top 3. He’s the furthest from a raw prospect in the draft.

AKtheLawParticipantThough people are quick to neg here but I digress.
I’d like to see Nazreon Reid make a push into the top 3. Although Bol Bol is a sentimental pick as well. There’s plenty of athleticism in the top 10 but some size to balance things out would be nice too.

Lotto StudParticipantGreat topic of discussion on your part about the 2019 class, which is to why I jumped on it quickly. As far as the points go, do not pay that any attention at all because it doesn’t hold any real weight. The only thing that matters most is that the dialogue intrigues the reader and your posts are valid. Other than that, there will be a few members that will not like anything you post but do not let it discourage you.
Now moving further along with your initial topic, I like Nazreon Reid’s tools as well, but I’m not sure if anyone will value a 6’9” big within the top-3 from the way that the game is expanding. If he measures well, I believe it will favor his stock.

CoachWyersParticipantI think they could all three go in the Top 10 maybe even best case Top 5.
