mouchy18ParticipantThrough 2 1/2 games it appears Wiggins has no presences on the court. If you didn’t know the names on the jersey or the background, the kid would not stick, at least on this level. I’m not buying Wiggins as 1 overall. What’s going on with his aggression and lack of playmaking ability?

bloodshyParticipantHe’s only completed two games. How bout we give it a little time before we start making broad generalizations.
I’m not certain Wiggins will go #1, but he may. Wiggins is averaging 19/5.5 while shooting 58% in 28 minutes so far this year. Yes, he’s iffy thus far in this game, but that hardly means I fail to recognize his talent. I’m no scout, but even I can see his movement (on a bad night) is very different than the average player on the court.
I’m a Parker fan and I have no idea who I’d take #1 right now.

HaleParticipantHow about we wait until the end of the year before you crucify the man averaging nearly 20 and 6 so far with "no skills".

mouchy18ParticipantHe clearly looks the part of a NBA player but as a NBA superstar? I have yet to see anything to suggest that. I have seen eye popping moments 2-3 each game with Parker & Randle. This is no final judgment but if he continues like I’ve seen, he will be the 3rd or 3th pick

mouchy18ParticipantThis is no crucifixion, that’s the point of the forum to open up a discussion. It hasn’t been too early for anyone to proclaim how good Parker, Randle or wiggins are so it’s never too early to critique their games either

Sewok15ParticipantKansas beat Duke on the strength of two pretty eye popping plays from Wiggins if I remember correctly. The kid scored 22 points in 25 minutes…I don’t know how much more you want to see. He was 9-15 from the field and although I came away impressed with Parker’s first half Wiggins outshined him in the deciding 2nd half.
Randle and Parker are both future NBA All-Stars who are probably going to put up better numbers than Wiggins in college. However in the NBA where the transition game is very important Wiggins has the ability to be better than both of them…I am not saying he will for sure but I would take the chance on him because he certainly has superstar potential.
I would be thrilled with any of the top 3 picks but I haven’t seen anything that has dethroned Wiggins from the top spot. We knew all of them were going to be great and I don’t think NBA scouts will have changed their minds about their feelings either based on what little we have seen from these guys yet.

Chilbert arenasParticipantHe’s not much of a ball handler or creator at this point so he’s not going to dominate the ball so that might be why doesn’t stand out, and he’s so freaky athletic that he makes it look easy.

mouchy18ParticipantThat was a quiet 20 against against Duke, a few uncontested dunks and 15 footer against a 6’1 guard. I don’t want to throw shade on his game, but I see mainly a finisher right now… I’ve been waiting for the "LeBron moment" since HS but I haven’t seen it yet…
0- Posted on: Tue, 11/19/2013 - 4:52pm #851088

Sewok15ParticipantBecause he isn’t LeBron. He isn’t the same kind of player or even projected to be on that level. I don’t know what you even consider a "LeBron moment"? His first NBA game? His first NBA finals appearance? His first ring?
You’ve been waiting since high school? Wiggins dominated and had 57 one game last year. LeBron’s high school career high was 52…once again not saying he is anywhere near LeBron or ever will be but you just can’t judge an 18 year old who has played 3 college games…especially if you are comparing him to LeBron who is in the discussion for best ever.

mouchy18ParticipantChilbert said "He’s not much of a ball handler or creator at this point" he also isn’t much of a shooter or physically strong yet either… does that sound like a #1 pick… potential gets coaches broadcasting jobs

mouchy18ParticipantI know he’s not LeBron, everyone else was comparing him to LeBron. Do you guys remember Kobe’s at the same age his first year in NBA, he was probably physically the same as Wiggins and just as Athletic. Kobe was way more advanced and skilled then Wiggins. He played 10-15 minutes a night but you always saw something that you knew he would be great. The only reason I bring up these comparisons is because everyone is calling him a transcended player… that’s not the case he will be a nice player All-Star probably… the other two guys I see in this class I see as bona fide superstars

Ghost01ParticipantAs someone alluted to…
I love how based on high school mixtapes and all star games we are allowed to annoint these guys the next superstars, but then when they actually start playing meaningful games it is not allowed to discuss their flaws.
If you believe in "the look" or "the eye test" it has been brutally clear that Parker and Randle are just far more skilled and polished than Wiggins. When he starts producing more than uncontested dunks and lay ins, that is fine.
But this flow of the offense crap is just that…good players find ways to make plays. That is the bottom line. Parker and Randle look like men among boys while Wiggins looks like a young kid full of potential.
And potential is a very good thing…except when you have two guys who look ready to dominate the NBA already sitting there.
And where is this first step? I haven’t even seen Wiggins try to get around a guy one on one…I am very much doubting he has elite handling skills and his iso game is non-existent.
Again – great NBA prospect. But in a class with multiple great NBA prospects, it is fair to point out what we have seen them done.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s not hating… I mean, Wiggins has A LOT of hype. We probably haven’t seen a player with this much hype since LeBron James. The magnifying glass was going to be on him this season. I think Wiggins himself said that his goal is to be one and done and be the #1 pick. He’s been advertised as a player who could play and be effective in the NBA right now.
And I know a lot of Wiggins fans or whatever will defend him to the end, but he’s definitely not been as good as advertisted. It’s still so early and he’ll definitely get better, but so far… He doesn’t really stand out like I expected him to. Maybe that’s my fault for buying the hype. He’s a great athlete with a great second jump, but I haven’t seen the quick first step. You can definitely see his potential at the defensive end. Offensively, all I’ve mostly seen are transition dunks and like layups at the rim. The stepback jumper vs Kansas was a good move, but Jabari Parker could do that in his sleep.
A lot of people pointing out negative things about his game right now are the same guys that were excited to see him play. It’s not like they dislike the kid. Me personally, I couldn’t wait to see him play. I’m excited to see how he improves. I just think he was overhyped and Parker wasn’t hyped enough.

M.GarveyParticipantThis criticism is probably the best thing that could happen to him. The hype will cool down as the year goes on. He’ll be an effective player for Coach Self but probably wont average 20ppg but a solid 15-17. My hope is that it’ll give him motivation to work on his skill set in the coming years.
Saying this. I love Jabari Parker’s game. It’s really advanced for his age. I just hope he doesnt fall in love with his jumper. He can get a lot of points in the paint if he uses his body.
