OldSkoolBasketballParticipantHe’s been so clutch this season and I think he got the talent to be a top 14 pick. What is he lacking that is keeping him from being a lottery pick?

knicksfan7ParticipantI believe that he doesn’t have upside and he’s a senior so his age is what is keeping him from being a lottery pick. I think he goes in the top 20 though, and will be an instant contributor for any team he gets drafted by.

bobbybParticipantHow is he listed below Ebanks?

the I in winParticipantEbanks reminds of Rudy Gay when he was coming out of high school. However Da’sean Butler reminds me of Danny Green except he hit a few clutch shots. Butler is like Robert Horry.
I’m probably a bit bias though seeing as i’m big on Ebanks.

kobyzParticipantHe reminds me of Steve Smith

kanyedabestParticipantIf Butler keeps doing his thing through march and april I really think he will sneak into the lottery… No knock Terrence Williams but he was a senior last year and had a better supporting cast, I think If he can WVU to the elite eight and beyond that he will be a late lottery pick

Adi JosephSteve Smith was 6-foot-8, athletic, long and one of the best passers in the league.
Butler’s a great senior prospect. He could be the top senior taken, but I don’t think he’ll go before Damion James. The Big East Tournament has vaulted his stock to the point where he’s probably picked between 20-25 right now. But the reality is, he’s not an impressive athlete, he’s a bit undersized at the 3 and he’s 23 years old.
Still, he can play. No question about that. Could be this year’s Wes Matthews, but better. He just likely won’t improve much at this point.

JNixonParticipantHe’s not a very good ball-handler, he lacks a good deal of athleticism and quickness to make up for it, doesn’t have upside and he’s a 6’5/6″ SF. I would take him in the late 1st round though, he can make shots and be at least a guy that can score by making pull-up jumpers or off screens and curls. The pick and roll they use alot in the NBA could benefit him a good deal. Also could be a decent defender who works hard.
He reminds me of Jamal Mashburn a little bit, but I think he’s more likely to have an Arron Afflalo type role.

gregoden08ParticipantLet’s be realistic here…He probably won’t even be a 1st round pick. I’ve seen mocks with him going undrafted. He’s only 6,5, very unathletic and his handles are shaky at best…Not to mention that he’s already 23 years old. His jumper is pretty inconsistent as well…I like him a lot, but as an NBA prospect you guys are overrating him to say the least.

Adi JosephI can’t imagine what mocks you’ve seen with him undrafted. I don’t think that’s likely at all. Second round? Sure. I would say he’s up in the air right now in the 25-35 range.
His age is probably his biggest question mark, and he can’t do anything to change that. After age 23, players really don’t tend to improve much.

gregoden08ParticipantDraftexpress has him in the middle of the 2nd round. I think they did have him going undrafted a week ago. Some other site had him undrafted (forgot the name) but I doubt their reliable.
I think a high 2nd round-mid 2nd round pick is what he will be.

QUINCEYhes good but like many said about his up side and height and position. gotta remember that on this site there are gonna be people who see some sr or undersized player with lil upside (ot talking about butler) play well and think they should be a firstrounder and completely forgetting about the other guys with better pro talent, upside, potential who are younger who are already first round/lotto locks

The8thDeadlySinParticipant(Sigh)
I dont know what to say without sounding bias. Umm.
He starts at the 2 guard on the 5th best team in the nation and has some pretty bad teammates that are big time role players. He is carrying that team.
He is listed at 6’7 and for a SG, that isnt undersized.
IDK where people get that he isnt a great athlete. Im not saying that he is a super athlete but I havent seen something that he proves he is a bad one. Just because he doesnt dunk every chance he gets doesnt prove that he is a bad athlete. How often does Mr. Brandon Roy dunk on people? He has a 40 inch vert. Butler doesnt get burned on defense and can get around most defenders. He rarely turns the ball over.
He has started 3 games at the point position. He does have a pretty good handle because nobody takes the ball from him.
That all sounds bias when I read it but IMO, its the truth. I dont know where he will go in the draft and I dont know how he will do in the NBA. All I know is that he is one of the best players to ever play at WVU and he recently went over 2000 points for his career. Keep in mind that he doenst play in the WAC or the MAC or something like that. He has done this in the Big East. The best conference in the nation for the past 3 years. This guy is a great, great college player.

QUINCEYsounds good but as a fan i can see him as a lotto pick but for someone like a gm or scout they obviously dont see it that way for more accurate reasons since they have watched him more. by no means does it mean he wont be a good nba player it just means he wont get drafted as high as some fans think he should
