I watched him play in college, and thought there were many players that I would consider better pros. Alex Len is thought by some to be the number 1 overall pick. Zellar, who actually performed well at a similar role, is projected to go outside of the top ten, even though he has shown many skills in workouts. In all honesty, If I were an NBA GM, I would consider Whitey and Iverson before Len. He has Myers Leornard written all over him

Is him looking like Meyers Leonard at all a negative at this point. Leonard’s been in the league 1 year and was hurt and lost minutes out to jj hickson who played very well this year. No one in this draft is considered a definite contributor right away. It’s all about potential. And I would argue, had Leonard gone back to Illinois for another year he would probably be in consideration for the #1 pick this year, all things considered. (Noel’s injury and mcLemores no show in a few tourney games.) Len is 7 foot and is athletic and looks to be able to develop some better post skills.

It’s a fair question you are asking. The deal is there are no sure things in this draft. The Cav’s are apparently trying to make certain they find a guy that can help them most with a lesser chnce of being a bust. Noel’s injuries apparently scare them.

There really is no reason to be skeptical about his weight. He’s a legit 7’1 in shoes with a big frame and already some definition. Toughness in the paint could be a concern, but size shouldn’t be.

For me, it would be the 8-21 record Portland put up after the All-Star Break. The old Warriors strategy of trotting out Jeremy Tyler and losing so they could draft Harrison Barnes didn’t mean much for Tyler’s prospects going forward.

I don’t think Leonard is a terrible prospect, but he epitomizes the problem with this draft class of big men. If you take a guy who is not physically able to help you, and it leaves a hole on your roster that hurts your team, are you going to be as confident in them 12 months later? Portland has a huge hole in the middle. They are small and soft in the West, which gets them absolutely nowhere. It is a tough spot. Do they draft Len who is not bigger, stronger, athletic, or skilled than Leonard was last year? They same goes for Nogueira, Plumlee, or Adams. I think Olynyk showed more polish to his game, but he is a year older and even lighter than Leonard.
