Holiday has Gary Payton like Potential

juves4783Participanthe is an explosive, young guard that reminds people of former ucla product russell westbrook. many people thought westbrook couldn’t play the point, but he did pretty well. holiday was a phenominal player in high school, but kind of saw his numbers look not as strong in college due to ucla’s system and their depth at the guard spots.

dolla33he sucks its nothing special about this guy you could have all the potential in the world but this kid average 8.5 points a game this
year i wouldnt take a chance with him med first round0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 3:42pm #167862
flexosexoParticipantDoesn’t drive to the basket.
Poor ball handler.
Isn’t the fastest guard in the draft, nor top 5 in speed.
^ Same with shooter.
Not really great at anything except defense
No experience playing PG, since Collison ran the show.
He will produce like Mardy Collins in the NBA…but he does have Gary Payton potential if he improves his passing, ball handling, and mid range game up to 10 levels.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 3:42pm #167863
j1232eParticipantis all about potential. Jrue has potential to be great, last season proved nothing though.

flexosexoParticipantYou and I have potential too.
Doesn’t really matter if you’re not producing.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 3:50pm #167868
j1232eParticipantextremmelly high on jrue last year. Every UCLA game i watched this year i was discusted by him. I thought for sure he would return and show him self as an sophmore. But he is going to the nba where he will be worse than he was this year.

Knicksboy34Participantlisten its the best move for him…he could be good for the nba team that takes him

Im Your FatherParticipantThis is what I don’t understand. What did he ever do at UCLA that would make you think he has Gary Payton like potential. I’m not saying he was or will be horrible, I think he was a decent college player last year, that will eventually become a decent NBA player. However, he has never showed me anything that would make me think he will be an NBA star. He is not a pure point guard, he isn’t a great ballhandler, he is an average athlete, he is not a great scorer, he does however have good size and is an above average defensive player. That is all. Had you never heard of him before his freshman year, you would never consider him to be a potential allstar.

Stanford hoopsParticipantexplosive..lol..and he is nothing like russell westbrook the only reason some people even say that is because they are around the same height and went to ucla ..thats where the comparisions end..and knicks please stop with the gary payton comparisions..no one but you thinks that ..and jru showed nothing even close to being considered even a poormans gary payton..so pease stop disrespecting gary payton like that

bobbygillerEveryone always talks about his potential but as many of you are saying, potential doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t produce. I don’t think there’s one poster on here (or one NBA GM) that doesn’t think he should have gone back to UCLA for another year to show how he can do running a team.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantHe is Delonte West w/o the shot(and Delonte’s shooting isn’t even that consistent)…if you’re telling me that’s worth a 1st round pick you’re stupid, and shouldn’t be allowed to talk about basketball ever again!!!

Stanford hoopsParticipantlol..i agree hes delonte west but i happen to like west game..i personally dont think holiday is that good and will be a bust because of him not producing in college but i guess we shall see
