Actually I’ve seen alot of websites (majority) moving Evans wayyy up, Especially S.I. where they have Memphis taking Evans at #2…

just because its a mock draft by the writers and once they see someone workout and they like them they move them up ..everyyear they get the obvious ones right but most of the others wrong so i wouldnt pay too much attention to it..same with the other sites

His shot is very suspect. His feild goal percentage is a lousy 45% his 3 pt% is 27. If he can not shoot the ball on a consistence basis,in college his pro game is going to extremelly suffer.

hmmmm i can say that about at leats one other college player who people seem to think will go lottery…most of the guards in this draft arent that great of shooters…holiday,rubio, johnny flynn….the list goes on and on..not shooting great isnt that big of a deal because players learn to shoot better all the time…im guessing holiday will really suffer then cuz of what he did(didnt do in college)

Holiday shot looks more pure than evans, but evans found ways to score as a freshman 17 ppg. Holiday looks timid and scared and did not find ways to score as a freshman 8 ppg. Evans should go higher than Holliday.

They figured out he shouldnt get picked high. He isnt a good shooter, he is an overrated passer and he is very turnover prone. He has his strengths but players with his weaknesses should be taken towards the middle or end of the 1st round

i agree..but im sure evans will eventually learn to shoot better..even if the mechanics look bad..there are alot of players in history whos shot looked bad but learned to be good shooters

Evans is more of a shooting guard than a point guard. The guards listed ahead of him like Curry and Flynn are more willing passers than Evans. All you have to do is compare their assist numbers. I think this mock lottery is based more on team needs as opposed to best player available. Monta Ellis is really a shooting guard, which is why they have Flynn going to GS. Minnesota does not have a point guard, which is why Curry is listed for them. If you’re drafting by team needs, Thabeet at Memphis makes sense. Memphis glaring weakness is rebounding and defense, which is why Thabeet is there. Going by team needs, Evans goes to a team in need of more scorers, which is why he is listed for Charlotte.

Whether you draft by team needs or best player available, there is no logic for SI having Evans at #2. There is no way Evans is the 2nd best player in this draft. As far teams needs, Memphis doesn’t have problems scoring.

Evans played point guard for 20 games last year for the first time ever. Andre Allen graduated and no one in their right mind trusts Willie Kemp to dribble a ball for more than 2 seconds per game. They had no other option. I think you are focusing too much on his numbers. They don’t tell the whole story and can be misleading. He played PG to help out his team and sacrificed his own season for it, probably hurting his draft stock in the process. He didnt shoot a good percentage because he was busy creating for others. He will probably never be a great shooter but he can be taught to hit the open shot. He wont be asked to handle the ball as much at the next level, just create off the dribble, which is what he is best at. The PG he played is just an added benefit and shows he is willing to contribute in whatever way needed. That being said I think it would be bad for a GM to pass on him just because he didnt shoot a good percentage. You’re not drafting him to camp behind the 3 point and hit shots, you’re drafting him to be a slasher and live in the lane. Memphis had a dribble and kick offense with shooters like Mack, Anderson, and Kemp on the wings and Evans fit perfectly into that. He just never really got a chance to show what he could do.

a slashing sg should be his position in the nba. Every day I hear more and more scouts talk point gaurd. What will he be.
