ChammesParticipantEveryone on espn is saying oh PG is good as gone to LA, but why would he? He has a good sidekick who is young in Turner, they can continue to build around them. If he makes an all nba team he is getting that 200M and is without a dobut signing it. Plus theres not a better lakers player than Turner other than ingram who is the same position as Paul George. I think PG is honest to bird and says if you wanna keep me your going to have to get more pieces around me and i think they do and George stays.

Bankroll PJParticipantHe’d be a perfect fit in Boston and they could pay him, so I hope he looks elsewhere. The Lakers aren’t ready for him and the situation in Indy just looks ugly right now.

ChammesParticipantboston would be a good fit right now but their players are up there in age, by the time PG hits his prime in 3 or 4 years Myles will be a top 10 big in the league

Bankroll PJParticipantPG is definitely in his prime now….. And what players on Boston are old? Horford is the oldest at 30 but he’s got 2-3 more good years in him and his game doesn’t rely on athleticism. IT4 is 28 and in his prime. The rest of the rotation is between the ages 20-26. Don’t let your Indiana bias blind you from facts. Myles Turner is the ONLY player on that roster that you can say will be above average in 3 years. While Boston will have a top 5 pick in two consecutive years, many young players to fill out the rotation, current star in IT4, a probably declining but still effective Al Horford, and the ability to sign PG13 without getting rid of any core players. Boston makes the most sense for any wing superstar, and as long as they find rim protection, they could be a true contender in 3 years for many more years.

festar35ParticipantI hear what you are saying but I have 2 points.
#1 – PG is entering his prime now and I think the next 4-5 years will be his best and I don’t think he wants to wait for 2 years of that for Turner to get better.
#2 – Its not just about the current situation it’s about what the situation may turn into, in other words a teams ability to draw big free agent interest and there is no doubt the Lakers/Celtics etc. all have a far greater ability to get those guys than Indiana.
Example: Blake Griffin is becoming free agent would he realistic leave the Clippers to join PG in Indiana, doubt it. Would he go to Lakers or Celtics to join him, no doubt.0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/21/2017 - 3:33pm #1096081

BiggysmallsParticipantBoston is a perfect situation for him. Only reason to go to LA would be glitz and glam. I hope PG isn’t about that garbage. He can be a star anywhere he doesn’t need the Lakers.
Boston is a far and away better situation if he’s a FA at the end of next season. They’d have three straight years with a top-five pick (Brown and maybe Fultz/Ball and another in 2018) plus solid core players in their primes like Bradley, Crowder, Thomas and a good vet in Horford who will age well.
I still think they’d be wise to consolodate some of the other assets if they can land a good big man without giving up those Brooklyn picks. Might mean they don’t go big-game hunting but I’d think they could deal Brown-Smart and some combo of young guys and other picks for a good big man becasue right now they are just so small.
Indiana situation has devolved too much. The team’s hit its peak with him and it’s not good enough to beat LeBron.

HitsterParticipantI go on a lot about him going to Boston as we talk about what they might do with those picks, can they add a top FA and someone else via a trade etc.
Ironically if he does hit FA then I can see Boston being near the front of the queue of teams who interest him. But if Boston sign a top FA this summer then he may have missed the boat.
I’d say that Paul his nearing his peak now, he isn’t 27 yet but not many players of his type hit their peaks turned 30. Ideally for him he may be right bang on his peak when he hits FA.
The Pacers, I’m sure have plans drawn up to try and keep PG13 and a strategy if he leaves via trade or in FA. They have limited long term salaries committed so would probably rebuild around Turner, a decent FA or two. If they needed a couple of lottery trips then they would probably do it and with cap space could be a trade/salary dump conduit for a season or two. Get some assets this way and then retool across a couple of drafts.
Kevin Pritchard has always been a draft time deal maker and he and Bird could oversee a successful rebuild.

Jean_31ParticipantI like the Pacers a lot, but their lasts moves was questionnable. Swap George Hill for Jeff Teague like it was a huge upgrade was one thing. But the biggest thing was letting go Frank Vogel to get Mcmillan. Nate McMillan is not a bad coach, but for me Vogel is one of the best in the league today. I understand they said that they want to play faster and Vogel like to run a slow pace offense, but so McMillan before being hired. And after that they go after a guy like Thad Young which is great and another guy like Al Jefferson which is really bad for their new style of play. Then you have Teague, Ellis George on the court at the same time ?? That just dont fit
I feel like George doesnt have confidence anymore in the front office and rightfully so.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIf PG makes All-NBA, he stays. If not, he goes.
If he wants to go to the Lakers, he’d might as well play out this season and sign with them as a free-agent. Why go to them via trade and gut their roster? That’d suck for the Pacers, but it’d be the best move for him.
I hope PG stays, but feel he should do what’s best for him. I honestly think he likes it here. Despite what people think, he’s not really a "big" market guy. He’s quiet. He loves where he lives in Geist. He loves to fish and lives right off of Geist Reservoir. He’s represents Indianapolis well. Just little things like when he’s out, he’s always wearing Pacers gear or Colts gear. You never see him like in a Yankees hat or something. He even reps the Indianapolis Indians baseball team lol. Dude really likes it here. I don’t think he WANTS to leave, but he will if he truly feels he can’t win here.
IF Bird loses PG, he needs to be fired immediately. He’s not getting enough blame for the DUMB moves he’s made, which I won’t even bother getting into.

cohenbc1ParticipantAs always there’s an argument for staying in the Eastern Conference. It doesn’t take much — maybe just a veteran free agent or two and continued development from Turner — and the Pacers are in the mix with all the other teams that could maybe get to the Finals if the Cavs falter. In the West, it seems like, to really break through, you need to develop a winning culture over years and years — like the Spurs and the team formerly known as the Lakers. (Either that, or you have to reinvent basketball, like the Warriors!)
