ive been a duke fan all my life. yet i have never been able 2 understand why people hate duke. is it becuz they are mostly bunch of white guys playing good basketball and winning championships? is it becuz they are the rival to North Carolina? is it becuz MJ hates them? (becuz be honest if mike jordan doesnt like sumthin alot of u are quick to jump on his tip). Im black and it doesnt bother me 1 bit that duke has sum of the better white players in college or even if we had a all whit eteam i wouldnt be bothered becuz thats my school and who i root for. People love to say well duke players cant make it in the NBA but hello idiots they are in college i dont care about no nBA we are trying 2 win college games. Besides how many of the top player sin the league rite now went to college??? not many becuz they all came from high school. (Bron, Kobe, Dwight, KG, etc.) alot of people hate on Coach K for no reason also. the guy does nuthing wrong he jus finds ways 2 win games and he does it the rite way. he has never been on punishment for paying players and is very respected among all of basketball. in honesty i had no clue we would win the title this year. i fugured we would go pretty deep and get to the final 4 but not win the whole thing. But i can say i think we are a sure shot 4 next years title. so give me ur input becuz im sure their are many different opinions…

1. Coach K’s arrogant attitude
2. The fans EXTREMELY excessive support
3. The team gets unfair preferential treatment from the refs
4. The private school small student body seems snooty compared to UNC’s big public state school feel
5. Duke players are overrated and do not make it in the L
6. They win….. a lot

I don’t hate Duke, but I hate the deification of Coach K that runs counter to the facts. The reality is that he does cheat like everyone else. When alums and boosters are giving jobs to the parents of Chris Duhon and Carlos Boozer as they did, they are breaking NCAA rules whether the NCAA has the will to go after him or not. The NCAA did not go after him when Myron Piggie was giving money to Corey Maggette. The NCAA certainly had no problem going after his guys Jeff Capel and Quin Snyder, but didn’t go after Duke. Also does him going at it the right way include him cursing at William Avery’s mother when her son decided to go pro saying he was going “f**k up his program.” If you want to praise him for winning last year’s title, fine. Just don’t ignore the facts of his career. He is as scummy as all the rest.

Everyone hates duke because of all the things you just mentioned. They’re the perfect program; the perfect mix of academics, fan support, and top notch basketball team. They get all the calls (don’t even try to deny), and they always win. I love watching Duke lose. Except when they play North Carolina, cause Roy coached UNC. Roy and i have one thing in common…we don’t give a sh*t about UNC.

christian leattner stepping on that one guys chest while he was on the floor is the first thing i htink of when i think of duke. Also, jay williams looked like a bit.ch against BC when he was holding the ball at the end of a blowout win and he started pretending he was gonna throw the ball at the BC player gaurding him. Then the BC player put his a.ss into the scorers table and Jay will just shat himself. Things like that make Duke look bad even if it is rare, they give off this arrogance about them.

couldnt find it. But williams was holding the ball near halfcourt along the sidelines while the final seconds ticked away and duke was up big on boston college. The BC guy was standing near williams and Jay started faking a couple times like he was gonna throw the ball at him and the bc guy just forearm checked him onto the scorers table and jay just stood there looking shocked. The media and espn was ripping on williams for lack of sportsmanship the next day mentioning this attitude is why people think duke is arrogant.

(Complete side note: I coached a jr high game where my team was up by 20ish and the clock was running out and we were holding the ball. All subs for both teams were in and the sub on the other team was full out ball pressure w/ 5-6 seconds left…. so my player turned around and rolled the ball towards our hoop…. the other teams defender sprinted for it and picked it up…just as he was about to score the game ended… on of the funniest D!@#KH$%6 moves I have ever seen….)

With the amount of games of championships Coach K has won, he deserves to have that swag. Don’t you think Phil Jackson has that swag aswell? The way he tries to manipulate referees, the way he just gives a smirk while his team just blew a 15 point lead, the way he jokes with the interviewers after the 3rd Qtr when they are just up by 2.
