Everyone is talking about him getting named as a replacement for Brandon Jennings in the Dunk Contest..But nobody is talking about how much Demar Derozan has improved this year….In the past 5 games he’s averaging 25 points…He’s still a poor 3 point shooter and has to improve his passing skills..But he’s doing a much better job this year of creating his own shots ….He’s finishing strong at the rim..Derozan is starting to look like a future star,if he continues to work on his shooting and passing skills…

I have definitely taken notice of his improved game, he has said he doesn’t only want to be known for his athletic ability and wants to improve on every part of his game, though he still isn’t a GREAT shooter he has shown a much improved jump shoot, he still will get his points in transition and on alley oops but he has shown that he has the work ethic to get better and become a better all around player, I think he will be a really good player down the line as long as he continues to put the work in.

He has gone on strides this year where he’ll string a few 20 point games together but than he’ll completely fall off. Without his scoring he doesn’t do much else to help the team (as in never gets too many boards or assists).

Playing well gets seen despite the team, and trust me he is publicized plenty in Canada.

Demar deserves praise because he has been working very hard this off-season… His game has improved by a lot… Toronto needed a guy like this since Carter left and I hope Derozan stays with them for a long time…

Past 5 games….that’s why. I mean, it’s impressive but it’s 5 games. If it was 15-25 games, he was putting up a 18-22ppg stretch…then it’s something to talk about.

Yeah I been critical of his consistency, but it’s looking like he is turning that corner. I picked him up weeks ago in 2 leagues and he has been on a scoring tear. Thats all he really does, but he has been doing it well of late.

I have noticed it as well.  It is a shame he is in Toronto though because he is putting up some of the best numbers for a 2nd year man and it appears he may be the go to guy on that team now when Bargnani is off.

Because he is consistently inconsistent, some nights gets mandhandled on defense and his jumpshot is still a work in rpogress. Still veyr happy with his growth as a Raptor fan. If he played in a big market city such as ( LA, Chicago, Miami etc…) he would be talked about as muchas Anthony Randolphs potential

Its not just the past 5 games.

In his past 14 games hes averaging 23.2 points per game and shooting 88% at the line. And since Dec 19th hes averaged 21.7pts and shot 86% at the line.

He still has many areas he can improve like his 3 pt shooting, defense, passing and rebounding. But his ability to score is well above average and if he does improve in these areas you can almost guarantee he becomes an all star player.

LOL, Toronto is a big market. The team just isn’t good right now plain and simple and players like Derozan tend to get relatively ignored in situations like that. When VC played on the Raptors he was one of the most popular players in the league because the raps were pretty good. Even Bosh got a lot of publicity and the raps were mediocre with him. If the Raps improve he will become a household name. Actually even if the Raps don’t improve, after he toils in obscurity for a couple years his publicity will start to increase much like guys like Corey Maggette, Stephen Jackson, Andre Iguodala, Danny Granger etc.

He’ll be a top 30 player in 2 years,if he works on his weaknesses..Around the same time his contract is up…Should he leave Toronto?

He will probably leave Toronto unfortunately. Just like Bosh and Carter.

TORONTO IS A BIG MARKET 2.5 MILLION ALONE IN THE CITY, NOT TO MENTION 5 MILLION WITH GTA (GREATER TORONTO AREA) As a Raptor fan, I woudn’t be surprised if DeRozan left. ANY player that reacher stardom wants to leave Toronto. WHY though? That’s the question I ask everyday to myself. You have ALL of Canada right behind you and don’t give me that b/s about the climate in Toronto. NY area has seen more snow than Toronto has seen ALL YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not even that cold! I mean Toronto is better than looking than most cities in North America ( no offense if you live there ) So don’t be saying Toronto shouldn’t be in any discussion! Maybe if Toronto was more advertised on ESPN then players would want to come here. We need a superstar again in Toronto….. I mean who wouldn’t want to play here?

I actually don’t think he will leave Toronto; he doesn’t have that same sense of entitlement that Bosh and Carter had. His slow start has made him humble, and if they can draft a bruising C to make up for Bargnani’s softness I don’t see why they wouldn’t stick around. He has a lot of potential as a go-to scorer, and so long as he keeps working hard he could make the All-Star game at the G spot in the East in a year or two. With Johnson ageing, Allen nearly retired, there’s a hole at the SG spot after Wade in the East. Unless they go nuts with the PGs in the ASG there’s no reason he can’t make it sooner or later.

When the Raptors start winning, people will start to notice DeRozan.  Hard to get recognition when your team is on a 9 game losing streak.  But personally, I think he will have a better career than Bosh.

I definitely think he should stay in Toronto. They have lots of decent young players and could eventually become a playoff team.

As long as Toronto has a winning organization and Demar is 1st or 2nd option I think hes gonna stay for sure. Unless he gets offered a huge contract by the lakers and has a chance to be in kobes place then he might take that. Play for his hometown and possibly replace the player he idolizes. But i doubt that happens lol.
