Which teams are going to have lousy seasons, and be put into a position where they are forced to trade away their big name players in an effort to rebuild and focus on the future? Any given offseason there are teams that are forced to realize that their current rosters best days are behind them, or are never going to come.

some teams that i am thinking are the suns, the hornets, and of course denver barring the melo situation.
Im predicting neither the hornets or the suns will make the playoffs and both ash and cp3 will be traded by next year. If melo leaves then chauncey will be traded also. there is a possibility for tony parker to be traded out of san antonio.
that means 4 of the top 5 point guards in the west could possibly be on different teams next year. crazy stuff

but i think th epacers have to be concerbed that danny granger doesnt leave. I mean ye ahe fills it up fo rthem but i just dont think thats the team for him. the suns are another team becuz i dont think steve nash can do too much more for them. they need to start thinking of the future and unfortunately nash is on the decline

Cleveland Cavaliers – Their best player was already moved, but management still thinks that this team can still win. Dan Gilbert thinks that they will win a championship before LeBron does, which is CRAZY with the current roster they have. The Cavs need to realize that they should start rebuilding now and should trade somebody like Antawn Jamison(because he has a big contract and he is getting up their in age) for expiring contracts, a few young talented players, and/or a pick. Unless a major move is made during this season, the Cavs will not make the playoffs like Dan Gilbert thinks.

Charlotte Bobcats – After losing Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler, I don’t think the Bobcats will return to the playoffs this season. Right now, Charlotte’s future is not very bright. They have no cap space, not a lot of young talent with upside, and had no draft picks this year. They should just start off fresh because I don’t see them making the playoffs this season.

Pheonix Suns – Their playoff window is closing. I think they will make the playoffs this season, but after that, they won’t for a few years. They lost a huge piece to their team in Amare’ Stoudemire, and Steve Nash is aging. They also have little cap space. I think they should just trade Steve Nash to a true championship contender so he can win a championship before he retires.

Denver Nuggets – After all that has gone on, I do not see Carmelo returning to Denver. There is already tension in that locker room(as seen in Ty Lawson’s tweet). Even if Carmelo did stay for the rest of the season, I think he would just bolt during free agency, so the Nuggets might as well get something in return for him. The Nuggets have said that if they trade Carmelo, they want expring contracts, young talent, and draft picks. And if Carmelo leaves, Billups is more-than-likely gone also. They should be able to get a lot in return for those two. And plus, they have Kenyon Martin’s contract coming off the books. This teams already has Ty Lawson, and by adding more talent, this rebuilding process would go by quicker than ever.

Yeah Bobcats need to rebuild for the future so they can actually be a championship contending team, not just a playoff team. Jordan got the team to their first playoffs, now is the time to start working on a championship, and keeping Captain Jack around isn’t a good idea in that case he should be traded. If they can snag a high draft pick in the next few years and get someone like Barnes or Gilchrist they’ll have a franchise player to build around.

Cleveland I fully agree need to start rebuilding ASAP.

Phoenix have J-Rich expiring next summer, Grant Hill may well retire and with Steve Nash going into the last year of his contract in 2011-12 then to trade him may make sense. The rebuilding may be to bring in a major player as Phoenix have signed several decent complimentary players recently and a major star would have a decent supporting cast.

Boston will look to compete for the next two seasons and then depending where KG is form wise may have to start rebuilding in 2012. But they will have Rondo in place, probably have extended Perkins, PP will still be there so they may look to add one or two good FA’s rather than rip it all up.

The Spurs are built around Tim Duncan and when he expires in 2012, they will look at his form then and take it from there. Ric Bruford and Coach Poppovich have always been shrewd operators by adding complimentary pieces over the years. Their key move could be deciding what they do with Tony Parker who will be a 2011 FA, Ginobli has 3 years left on his deal so effectively almost side by side with Duncan and Diceman has two years remaining as well. They have the likes of Hill, Blair and Splitter who they can use to rebuild long term as and when the Tim Duncan era finishes.

Denver can go into rebuild almost when required with their top 4 earners either expiring this season or having team and player options next season.

NOH like Denver will revolve around what their main man CP3 in their case does. They have Peja expiring next summer and David West has a player option so he is likely to test the FA market and if CP3 moves on then I’d guess he may well move on as paying him over the odds would just to keep him minus CP3 may not be a great move for NOH. David West will be pushing 31 years old next summer but as a guy who can put up 18 to 20ppg and 8 to 10rpg is probably worth more than his $7.5 million player option for 2011-12 and I would guess he’d figure he could get a better contract in 2011 then he would get being a year older in 2012.

Detroit may look to continue rebuilding if they move Hamilton and Prince to give them cap space or allow the younger core drafted in 2099 and 2010 along with Gordon, Maxiell and Charlie V to develop. They could surely get a first round pick for Prince along with an expiring deal and whilst Hamilton may be harder to move having $38 million over the next 3 seasons due to him he has Championship experience, the size to play SG or SF and can give you 20ppg as well as being a good team player. Whilst Detroit may not get back what he is worth they could maybe get an expiring deal and a young piece or two thrown in.

Detroit may struggle more minus Prince and Hamilton but it would really free up time for the younger players and another lottery trip next season along with increased salary space could help them long term.

Luckily Dallas are a bigger team with the resources and a pro active owner in Mark Cuban who will pay luxury tax if needed to try and compete.
