OhCanada-ParticipantI’m looking at my fantasy team and see a nice preview to a game coming up. Utah vs Philly. I have both Favors and Okafor in one of my leagues. On their debut they posted identical statlines and it should be interesting to see who comes out on top. O personally love Phillies frontcourt.

ZouldiersParticipantUtah right now has the better frontcourt with Philly lacking experience but eventually Philly’s frontcourt will be better because Okafor/Noel have the higher upside than Gobert/Favors plus Philly still has Embiid so do not forget that. Speaking of fantasy, I have Gobert on one team and Noel on the other and I think both will have a great game and have at least 2 blocks that game along with Favors and Okafor. I’m going with Utah on this matchup even though I like Okafor more.

OhCanada-ParticipantI’d like to find a way to watch that game. I bet Gobert will faurd Okafor in the beggining to allow Favors to exert more effort offensively than defensively but I also expert Gobert to get exposed by Jahlil and get in foul trouble on pump fakes and savvy moves.
Kind of the awnser I expected to get but I think Noel and Okafor are underrated vastly. Both players are wise beyond their years.

bumbleb33ParticipantI disagree that okafor/noel have the higher upside. Favors and Gobert are still very young. Favors is also a better overall athlete than either noel or okafor. Gobert has played just half a season of real minutes and is already a top 3 center defensively

T RexNot having enough experience doesn’t mean anybody is worse than anybody else.
This time last year people were saying Gobert didn’t have enough experience to be good.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantDrafted #3 overall in the 2010 draft (Utah’s other franchise piece Gordon Hayward was drafted #9 in 2010), like most Bigs, it took Favors about 3 seasons to come into his own… But the last 2 years Favors has really become a nice young dependable piece in Utah’s young team – at 6′ 10” & 265 lbs, the 24 y/o Favors has Averaged 14.7 ppg & 8.5 rpg w/ 1.6 blocks & a 52% FG% between 2013/14′ & 2014/15′
B/c of Favors consistency Gobert can really focus on Defense & Rebounding & he’s an exciting young player… Taken at the end of the First Round in the 2013 Draft, Gobert really emerged last season as he jumped from 2.3 points, 3.4 rebounds & 0.9 blocks w/ a 49% FG% in his 2013/14′ Rookie season to Last years totals of 8.4 points, 9.5 rebounds & 2.3 blocks w/ a 60% FG% as a second year young stud….
B/c Gobert & Favors are 23 & 24 – I think they are more mature & ready to break out sooner than Phila’s exciting young front court…
At 21 & 19 Noel & Okafor are pretty scary already… b/c Phila gets so much Negative Pub, I don;t think people understand what type of Rookie year Noel had in 2014/15”… When Noel came out in the 2013 Draft he was thought to be the consensus #1 pick… B/c he tore an ACL & would miss his entire rookie season he fell… people do not realize this but Noel was NOT the Sixers pick in 2013…
Scrambling to formulate a plan, Sixers new GM Sam Hinkie took over a team one month before that draft that had Finally accepted that ESPN’s #13 ranked player in their 2012 NBA player Rankings was Never going to play for them & they had traded away Andre Igudola, Nic Vucevik, their 2012 First Round pick along w/ BOTH their 2015 & 2017 Furst Round Draft picks… The cupboard was Empty when Hinkie signed on in May, 2013.
New Orleans, thinking they had a wounded animal they could take advanatge of contacted Phila & asked if they were interested in former All- Star yet still very young PG for their #1 pick… Phila had the #11 pick in the 2013 Draft & 3 tradeable players left: Jrue Holliday, Evan Turner & Thad Young… Hinkie liked Dario Saric (who originally considered entering the 2013 Draft) but told the New Orleans that they would give the Pelicans 3 names in the "weak" 2013 Draft: Victor Oladipo, Otto Porter jr & Nerlens Noel… And if ANY of those 3 were available & if New Orleans added the Pelicans 2014 first round pick – that hinkie would do the deal….
Oladipo & Porter jr were quickly picked, but Noel fell to #6 & the full scale Rebuild was on like Donkey Kong… Noel missed the whole 2013/14′ season… & Hinkie turned that 2014 Pelicans pick into Dario Saric (& he deftly leaked a rumor claiming MCW was on the Block & Phila was going to take Elfin Payton at #10) Orlando offered Phila the 2017 First Round pick that they lost in the Bynum deal BACK to Phila if the Sixers would swap picks 10 & 12 so the Sixers would NPT draft pg Payton – who they never wanted anyway…
So all in all Phila got what will end up being 3 Lottery picks for Jrue Holiday… Now, back to Noel… he was largely ignored but his Rookie season stats were almost Identical to the Unibrow (the Brow scored 3 points per game More)… & after Phila traded MCW, Noel’s statistical Data Shocked NBA insiders…
In the 25 games After MCW, the Sixers young 7 foot. 225 lbs, jumping jack Averaged 13.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.4 steals & 2.5 blocks while shooting 49% FG%… Noel finished in the top 10 in the Entire NBA in steals & blocks… Anticipating a partnership w/ Joel Embiid this season, Noel had Already been playing the "4" a great deal…I’m not comparing Noel to Anthony Davis – but Davis could not shoot his Rookie year either & Noel – when he realized his dribble drive was just about unstoppable for most NBA "bigs" grew in confidence & began working on a 15 foot J …
Oakfor at only 19 years old has an unbelievable array of low post moves… Scouts Raved about 2015 basically being a Two man show at the top of the Draft w/ Okafor & Towns well ahead of Any other prospects for the 2015 Draft… Just like in Utah, having Noel & the 6’11” 275 lb Okafor practicing w/ Noel every day makes Both men better… Okafor will force teams to double team almost Everyt trip & he is a good passer out of the double team… It’s just that right now Phila’s starting guards are still un-available – when Marshall & Stauskus return, Okafor’s skill set will create open looks for both guards AND Noel… Noel is scoring Much more than people thought & Okafor will increase his defesnive proficiency working next to Noel… What is Truly scary to think about is when 7’2” Joel Embiid joins these two at practice every day… The Sixers might have something Extremely rare brewing………..
Sorry for the long post everyone – I’m leaning toward Utah right now but Long Term it’s hard not be at least very intrigued about the possibilty of THREE – 7 footers – w/ that type of Talent…

Ebown5ParticipantAs a Sixer fan I am really excited to see Okafor matchup with Gobert, who is probably going to be the best defender, if not player, that he has ever played before.
I don’t expect Okafor to have his way with him offensively, but we will just have to see how it goes.

Captain LParticipantUtah should have the advantage in this game both Favors and Gobert are better at this point in their careers and IMO both will continue to improve sufficiently to stay better than Philly’s duo. I don’t see Okafor having the game he had against Boston’s front court against Gobert & Favors. Noel is athletic and good defensively, but his offense is inconsistent and a work in progress, not sure how good he will become. Favors is determined to improve and become an all star and he is off to a good start. Gobert has the attitude every coach / GM loves, he is determined to be the best & win. I see Gobert frustrating Okafor and causing him to force things, resulting in a poor game.
