prophetmeirParticipantFirst of all congrats to both of these young men Cat barber and Tyler Ulis. Cat upped his scoring to an ACC best 23.5 points a game a whopping 11 points better than last season average ! Also avg 4.5 reb and 4.6 assist per game a monster. Not to mention he was doubled sometimes tripled team and scored from all over the floor.
Then you have Tyler a young man who only avg 5.6 ppg last year as a back upped his average to 17.6 per game. He was projected as a back up this year to the freshman, but made is mark and gained remarkable honors. He also avg 7 assist per game played in the tourney, but had a better team around him.
So who are you taken if you had a choice between the two for your franchise. For one I know it depends on the team, but if you had a choice of the two despite team needs who would it be.
For me right now it would be Cat, the way he is able to penetrate and pull up is something I think will translate well. We all know that the nba right now is all about spacing and I don’t think their is a guy quicker in the draft than cat. If ish is able to do what hes doing now I think cat can too.

cjwParticipantDefinitely Cat Barber although Ulis could be a good pro aswell. Barber separates himself from Ulis defensively with better length and quickness. Also Barber has reportedly tested to be as fast as Westbrook so his impact in transition will be a major bonus. Ulis is a better shooter but Cat has a good and improving shot.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantDifferent kind of players so it would definitely depend on team needs. I don’t really view barber as a pg. I think he’s more of an undersized 2 guard. Players with similar size and skill-sets ( monta ellis, Lou Williams) have had successful careers so thats not a knock on his nba potential. However, if you are drafting barber with the expectation that he primarily play point I think you will be disappointed. Hes just more wired to score the ball than distribute.
Ulis on the other hand, is definitely a pure pg. Someone made the comparison to tj Ford on this site and I think it’s a very good comparison. He will always have certain limitations due to his physical stature, but I really believe he can at least be a solid back up pg and be a role player in the league for a long time. Whether he could be more than that, I’m not sure.

prophetmeirParticipantI mean who is a pure PG in the league now ? Rubio ? Rondo ? I think the pg has turned really into a scoring guard roll. if you look at all the pgs in the league that are top tier all are number one or two option on their team.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantBoth should stay in college, because it’s not bad, but both will be playing in the D-League next season. And I would rather hang around my college team and play there another season, than some D-League team like Bakersfield!

ChewyParticipantBut I’ll take Ulis. He has shown some nice step back jumpers and floaters, so when he adjusts to NBA speed and size he should still be able to score some. I love Ulis’ ball control and passing. The guy just knows how to run a team. Sub 6 ft guards don’t have a great chance at lasting in the league, but how many sub 6 ft guards win defensive POY awards?
Tough choice, but I go Ulis.

connybucketsParticipantCat is leaving because his family and one year old daughter lives in Newport News, VA. If you have been there you’d know that it is awful there

mamadouParticipantAs a Sun, with 2 picks in the late 1st, early 2nd, at 27-28 and 33-34…i would take Ulis.
Based on team need, 3rd stringer/back up, true floor general, neither Knight or Bledsoe are true points.
Options, variety, 2 way scoring point Bledsoe, 1 way lead guard Knight, true point Ulis.
Hopefully Baldwin, Jackson or Ulis will be available, i want one of them.
I don’t see many fits for Barber, i could see Ulis as a quality depth addition for the suns(price), Lakers(Huertas), Nets(scrubs), or powerhouses like the Spurs and Warriors, he’s reliable. they don’t have pass first points.
