To me, the favorite probably has to be Tiago Splitter just based on the disparity in experience, but I’d put Cousins right behind him, with Wall right behind him.

Others who might challenge, but I doubt will be in the same class as those 3: Blake Griffin and Greg Monroe.

    What do you guys think?

IMO, It would be tough for Splitter because I don’t think he’s going to start.

My vote is going to John Wall. All Insiders are saying Gilbert will be gone ( Hopefully to my Knicks) and they want to start anew with Wall. With Arenas on the roster, I could see him post 12ppg, 3rpg and 5apg

Without Wall? I could see a 15ppg, 5rpg and 6apg season. I think the point will be tough to predict because of the lack of a consistent jumper.

I see Ed Davis posting 10 and 8 with 1.5 blocks comfortably the way Torontos frontcourt is shaping out.Cousins seems to have alot of competition at C and mintes to share.Wesley Johnson should have a great oppurtunity unless Kahn does some more stupid moves.Everyone gets stats in G-State.With that being said I see a race between..

    Avery Bradley
    and
    John Wall

    won by Wall.

My votes gonna be Evan Turner… I just think he’s gonna come out and play really well, but not improve his numbers significantly throughout his career.

I kept thinking I was forgetting someone…duh. IMO, he’s probably in the mix with that first group right behind Wall and ahead of Griffin, depending on how they use him.

I think the lack of surrounding talent in WAS might hurt Wall, especially if they get rid of Arenas who could function as a decent off-guard, because they aren’t bringing back anything of value if someone takes that contract off their hands. That and the fact that true PGs often struggle a little early on in their careers. He won’t be a rookie Gary Payton or anything, but enough to allow someone else to win the award.

I disagree about Splitter – I think he’ll see plenty of time this year, even if he doesn’t start right away.

If Hayward is the 6th or 7th man for the Jazz I think he could average 8 ppg, 5 rpg, and 3 apg that’s not enough for ROY, but I think Cousins, Griffin, and Wall all have a really good chance to win it.

Griffin should beast it in LA this year maybe- 15 and 10, but I wanna see what kind of chemistry wall and blatche have because they could be so dangerous in the open court.
I wouldnt be surprised either to see Cousins put up similar numbers to griffin.

If Griffin could’ve posted 20-10 like we know he can, I think he still would’ve won it.

    durantula,

no way, only lebron and jordan (check me on tht) have ever been able to do at least 20,5 ,5 rookie year. if griffin did 23 and 11 that still mite not be enough. tyreke put himself in some elite company last year

I see Griffin as a runaway winner. He is such a hard worker, and the year off will have made him hungry. I can hear his stomach growling. Clipppers could make playoffs this year even without a big free agent signing if Griffin and Aminu can step up.

I’m changing my pick to Griffin. I’ve been saying Turner.

I just think Griffin will be a monster this season, plus he’s not going to be the typical rookie. He already knows what to expect, etc.

Griffin or Turner, MAYBE Wes Johnson if he kills it in MIN.

Wall will be great the year after

I guess I’m just a little more leery of him than everyone else appears to be because he’s coming off the injury. That, and he plays for the Clippers, which never seems to work out for anyone. But he does appear to be pretty close to 100% and I agree he was a beast in college. I guess we’ll see.

I am a little surprised no one else has any love for Splitter. Dude is a grown man compared to most of these kids, and I personally believe he’ll have plenty of PT to be in the mix, but again; I guess we’ll see.

Griffin definitely has the “talent” to take it, but does he have the oppurtunity. With all the capable scorers in LA and also signs of a big FA signing I dont see him getting the oppurtunity to score enough to be ROY.

The only thing I can say with certainty is that it won’t be Tiago Splitter. My money would be on Blake Griffin, if I were a betting man….
