OldSkoolBasketballParticipantPaul will undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss at least a month including the all star game. Prime candidates are Chauncey Billups and Monta Ellis.

nateoak10ParticipantHe’s just had a better individual year than Billups. But if Roy stays out both can go

nateoak10Participantindividual year
Ellis 25.9 PPG 5.6 AST 4 TO 2.14 STL 4.3 REB 75% FT 30% 3’s 46% FG .30 BLK
Billups 19.2 PPG 5.9 APG 2.45 TO 1.2 STL 3 REB 89% FT 41% 3’s 42% FG .13 BLK
Billups may be on a better team but he is not the better player this year. Denver last year was feeding off him, this year it’s Melo not Billups

DanEboyParticipantI argue that Billups IS having the better year. Of course Denver is Melo’s team but Billups is such an underappreciated player. I would take him over Ellis on my team anyday. Numbers do lie, and Ellis takes too many bad shots. I like the kid but Billups is a leader and is a major reason why Denver is in the position that they are in.

CLYDE-frazier10Participantbut billups will make it because team record counts so much for allstar

nateoak10ParticipantAnd thats why Roy sitting out is good for both of them

M-DYMESParticipantMy bad sorry I was looking at the wrong stats.

flibbenmcgParticipantIt should be chauncey billups. Ellis is having a better season statistically, however, chauncey is a vital piece for what is arguably a championship contending nuggets team. Team records definately have a serious impact in the selection, take a look at horford being selected over david lee. Realistically, you must be on a winning team to grab a spot, every all star with the exception of Iverson (who is already a questionable pick), is on an above .500 team, this season anyways.

festar35ParticipantBillups

the I in winParticipantbetween ellis and billups it has to be billups. It’s simple really, which one plays defence? And which one has lead his team to the playoffs every year for about 10 years? If you watch them they both take some pretty stupid shots but billups makes those stupid shots, he just misses the good ones.

llperezit should also be noted that the nuggets are i believe 5-0 without melo but when they take billups out of the lineup, they struggle to win games. He impacts the game in ways that go beyond stats and makes the team as a whole play better.

butidonthavemoneyI think Chauncey Billups will replace CP3. Tyreke Evans and Monta Ellis are playing well, but Billups has such a big impact on the game. It’s not all about stats.

jrfloresssParticipantI would have to go with Chauncey. I know evans and ellis are more exciting and therefore would be perfect for an all star game, but sometimes being an all star isnt all about stats and how fancy a player is. in his defense, billups averages close to 20 ppg on a championship caliber team, even with a current scoring leader (melo) all while orchestrating one of the NBA’s most proficient offenses. Ellis and Evans will have their share os ASG’s but for now I will have to give the nod to Chauncey

R-Dot-13ParticipantWhat about Aaron Brooks?
But Ellis and Billups are hte frontrunners

armani would like them both to make all star team and i think that they deserve it but if i need to chose one of them who i want i see in all star game it would be monta cause he more exciting player( and everybody wants to see dunks, aley ops,no look passes in ASG…) and it would be his first ASG so it would mean him alot….

IndianaBasketballParticipantMr. Big Shot… It’s very arguable he should’ve made the regular roster.
If he declines, I’d say Aaron Brooks.
